Khan't help falling in love

Imran Khan starrer I Hate Luv Storys spawns Mills & Boon series

Imran Khan is all set to be the new hero of the Mills & Boon series. The publishing house has got into an exclusive tie-up with Karan Johar's firm Dharma Productions and will come up with a series of books, which will be exclusive spin-offs on I Hate Luv Storys, a film in progress. The publishing house thought that Imran fits the bill perfectly for an M & B (as it is fondly known to its fans) prototype.

Our source says, "The exclusive tie-up will have a series of eight books. It will have the cover of I Hate Luv Storys and will be a story of Imran, who does not beleive in love."

When contacted, Karan Johar, the producer of the film, confirmed the news: "Yes, we do have an exclusive association with Mills & Boon. They are coming up with an IHLS special edition, which is a compilation of all the classics. They felt a strong synergy between the theme of our film and a classic Mills & Boon romance."

Speaking about Imran, Karan said, "Imran represents the quintessential Mills & Boon romantic lead, because of his character in the film, a strong cynic in the power of love and eventually a convert."

Manish Singh, country manager for Harlequin Mills & Boon India Pvt Ltd, said, "Every youth dreams of falling in love and every story of love is filled with joys and anxiety. This association symbolises the idea that unfolds in every youth's life and synergises with the movie theme.

To create more excitement we have launched an initiative for readers to meet Imran Khan, at present a youth heartthrob."

Speaking about Imran Khan, Singh added, "Over the years Mills & Boon characters have evolved to reflect the changing cultural and societal norms of the nations we operate in.

While there are certain universal traits in our heroes, which resonate across our readership base of 16 to 60 years, Imran Khan obviously has tremendous appeal amongst the younger generation."

Love it or hate it, but a dalliance between publishing and filmmaking in India seems to be burgeoning.
