David Dhawan had two major films, DEEWANA MASTANA and MR. AND MRS. KHILADI, releasing in the same week. Much later -- last year to be precise -- Priyadarshan's GARAM MASALA and KYON KI… opened on the same date. Now, on March 17, director Karan Razdan will face a similar dilemma: Not two, but three of his films are slated for release on the same Friday.
The three films, SOUTEN – THE OTHER WOMAN, EIGHT – SHANI and UMAR, are confirmed for March 17. "The producers have gone ahead and booked the theatres. There's very little I can do," Karan is in a pensive mood. But the silver lining is that the films belong to diverse genres. "I would've had sleepless nights had the stories been similar. Thankfully, the themes are varied," he heaves a sigh of relief.
The writer-director continues in the same breath, "The films were never scheduled to open simultaneously. It was never planned that way. But now that they're releasing on the same date, I can only hope for the best," he smiles.
