Poonam restrains Deepu from going after the 2 gossips, and reminds him that the last time he acted that way, he lost his job. Deepu asks her whether he just stands quietly and listens? Does Kabir pay the house bills? đ¤ Poonam tells him that if he roams around like that w/ Jyoti and then comes to their home, of course people's suspicions will be aroused. On top of that, Jyoti is single: while they may not understand, it's up to Jyoti & Kabir to understand. She asks him to leave it - if they tried convincing her, they'd be the ones @ fault. She asks him to let it be.
Deepu refuses, and says that this ain't a question of Jyoti alone, it's of the entire family. And now, there is a perception that all this is happening @ their whims. Poonam tells him that all these slanders will continue as long as she remains single. Only Jyoti can stop all this.
At Jyoti's home, Kabir tells her that he'll pick her up tomorrow @ 8:00am. Jyoti asks him why, and he tells her that since her interview is tomorrow, her driver will be there for her. Jyoti tells him that if she were to tell him that she'd go herself, he'd refuse. Kabir agrees, and leaves, bumping into Deepu and Poonam, who pass w/o greeting him.
Deepu sits down, and Jyoti asks him why he's so grumpy. Poonam tells her that it's good that she stopped Sandeep from retaliating, or else... Jyoti asks what happened, and Poonam says everything that has been happening from long ago - people are gossiping about Jyoti & Kabir, making vile remarks, and today, they even said that Kabir is her new bf. Jyoti tries to explain to Deepu that they can't stop people from saying what they want, but he knows that... Poonam says that that's very easy to say, but when one overhears that, it hurts a lot. But it seems that they (Jyotir) are just used to it. She reminds her about all the slanders that happened during her divorce, and this even appeared in the papers. That's why Jyoti should stop roaming around w/ strangers (Poonam could have suggested that Jyoti marry Kabir)
Poonam continues that Kabir is a nice person, but that's something they know, but the public @ large doesn't. Jyoti tells her that people just look for opportunities to gossip. Hearing this, Deepu explodes, and demands to know how long do they have to listen to all this? He says that until then, he had listened to everything she had to say, but today, Poonam was right. Everybody slanders her, and he can do nothing despite wanting to. Poonam adds that Jyoti doesn't give a damn about the prestige of the family. She asks her to look @ Deepu, who day & night worries about her and her to be born baby. She wonders what sort of a future this kid will have, who, before being born, is labelled a bas***d.
The rest of the family comes into the room, and are shocked. Padma scolds Poonam for not knowing how to talk, but Deepu comes to her defense. He tells Padma that while Poonam may be insensitive, what she's said today is not wrong. He tells them that people were saying despicable things about Jyoti that can't be repeated. Until today, every decision of Jyoti had been respected, but now, she is wrong. He asks Jyoti why she can't understand that not allowing her to work, and having her sit @ home was being done for her good. But b'cos of her stubbornness, she's willing to let the reputation of the entire family... Today, it's some people, tomorrow the entire city or district. They have to live among these people only. Tomorrow, when they have a family, a kid, and they too will have to live amid all this. He demands that she change her decisions on this.
KK claps derisively, and tells him that he's trying to teach the same sister who taught him how to walk (KK, does it ever strike you that every decision Jyoti takes is not a good one? She's made her share of bad ones to date) He tells him that not just teach, he's ordering her! Deepu is talking about the public reputation - he asks him where was his when he was sitting w/ street kids gambling? (But KK, Deepu hid it - it was never known by anybody, but only by Jyoti the day the results came out) KK reminds him that under the charade of studying, he used to borrow money from his sister to gamble, and when it was exposed, his mom kicked him out of the house (er, KK, no, you did, and his mom got panic attacks and ultimately blackmailed you into letting him back) He reminds him that it was Jyoti who brought him back(Again, actually no, it was Padma, and what Jyoti did was persuade KK to allow him to stay. If KK is digging all this up now, Deepu might want to consider a ghar-jamai option) KK tells him that if he had studied like her, he'd not have had to beg.
Deepu denies it, and tells him that he didn't say anything. He respects Jyoti like anything, but can't tolerate if anyone trash talks about his god. (She ain't - you needn't resort to such hyperbole)do work. He claims that he's doing this to take care of her, but KK rejects the argument, and tells him that he's trying to use the fact that he's the sole earner to try and make her abide by his demands. He tells Jyoti that she was right - when people stop working, they have to abide by the decisions of those who(So, KK, why don't you work?) He tells Deepu that he doesn't understand his sister, but he understands his newly married wife? (This is a really stupid argument - by this logic, every man should reject his wife's input, and instead listen to siblings, parents and so on) Deepu denies that Poonam has any input into what he had to say, but KK asks him to shut up. He accuses Deepu of disgracing him and his honor by speaking out against Jyoti.
He then starts coughing, and Dadi, Jyoti & Padma rush to relieve him. Padma takes him to the other room, and Jyoti gets him a water. Padma asks Jyoti to leave the room, or else he won't calm down. Jyoti leaves, and KK, while panting, is outraged that Deepu is speaking out against Jyoti. Padma tries to calm him down.
Jyoti sits in her room and has flashbacks of everything that's happened to date in her life - her childhood w/ Deepu & Sushma, her marriage & divorce, returning her mangal-sutra to Sudha, her introduction to Kabir, Kabir bringing back Brij, him proposing marriage to her, him taking a bullet for Pankaj, Pankaj taunting her about Kabir. At this point, Dadi arrives, and wipes her tears, and tells her not to cry, saying it's not good for the baby. Jyoti tells her that she'd also have to make sure that when it's born, it's duly welcomed as well, and that w/ time, new relationships do form.
In her room, Padma opens her cupboard to pull out something, and a picture of Jyoti & Pankaj newly married falls on the floor. She looks @ it and caresses it 𤢠She then recalls her last conversations w/ Pankaj & Sushma, and asks herself that if Brij can change, why not Pankaj? 𤢠(Padma-ji, there is also something called justice, which hasn't been served by Pankaj, and in actuality, Brij neither) She tells herself that since Pankaj is accepting that baby as his, he must be ready to accept Jyoti as well (Padma-ji, unlike Brij, there is the small problem Pankaj has of being re-married, and you also have no clue as to whether your dear saheli Bhairavi has changed or not) She goes & has her conversation w/ Ganesh-ji, and tells him that it's all his wishes. She will be able to restore Jyoti's happiness, and shake off that stigma of being called a step-mom
Kabir is talking to someone (probably a relative) over the phone, and tells him/her that there is a girl, and also requests that that be kept confidential, for now. He promises that person that whenever she agrees, s/he will be the first to know.
Next morning, Kabir arrives @ the Sharmas, & Poonam opens the door. He greets her good morning, but she snubs him. He asks her whether Jyoti is ready, and she asks him whether they 2 were to go anywhere? Kabir says yes, and is about to continue, when Poonam tells him that Jyoti has left, and asks whether she didn't call him? Kabir says no. Just then, Sandeep passes and Kabir greets him, but Deepu too ignores him. (Kabir should pay him back his hospital stay cost) Just then, KK appears. Kabir asks Poonam whether Jyoti hadn't told them where she had gone, and Poonam tells him that it's not like Jyoti ever tells anybody where she's going. (Poonam happens to be correct here - it's not like Jyoti ever tells anybody where she's off to) She tells Kabir that he must be having a phone - he can call her and ask. He can meet her anytime, right? KK is pissed @ hearing her comment. Kabir thanks her, and leaves.
As Poonam turns in, KK stops her and asks her whether that's any way to talk to someone like Kabir who's done so much for their family? What's wrong w/ her? Poonam tells him that she only told Kabir that he can meet didi anytime (Yeah, Poonam, but your tone was like Kabir had nothing better to do than flirt w/ their didi) She asks what was wrong in what she said? She also defiantly said that nothing has happened to her, but something has happened to him! (Wish Deepu or Padma or Mahesh-ji or Chachi were there to see that) KK is dismayed.
Jyoti is @ the school interview, and the principal tells her that in her condition, she'll have to take leave in a few months. Jyoti agrees, but says that she really needs this job. He asks her why doesn't she just take a part time job? Jyoti tells him that one should do what one is interested in doing, only then do they keep improving @ it. She thinks that this job is perfect for her. She tells him that she had experience w/ kids @ sishu-mangal, and understands kids & their needs. She then plays her pregnancy card, and tells him that she's about to become a mother herself, and what better than a new mother to understand kids (I know that women here will probably disagree w/ me, but this really seems to imply that a woman who is knocked up is more deserving of a job than either a single or married woman who's not expecting) The principal is impressed by her statement that one should do what one likes doing, and that this was the right place for her. He tells her that she can start today itself. Jyoti is thrilled!!!
Pankaj is @ a park/kid's playground, and a ball lands @ his feet. He picks it up, and a kid comes running to him and requests him Uncle, uncle, please give me the ball. Pankaj gives him the ball, and the kid goes running to his father, saying Papa, papa... Pankaj says that that's what his kid would be calling him (hate to remind you, Pankaj-ji, but you're already on record as agreeing not to claim that kid if you find out it's yours.)
A new student is enrolled in Jyoti's class by her mom Ritu (played by Shilpa Agnihotri). Jyoti tells her that it's her first day as well.

A needlessly dramatic episode!
Not much to say on Deepu's confrontation w/ Jyoti or KK. Just that Deepu's mood seems to change according to what he hears in public, and he's a very unreliable person to have as a friend. Same w/ Poonam. Incidentally, why is Poonam opposed to Jyoti going around w/ Kabir - doesn't it strike her that the more she does it, the likelier it is that she'll end up marrying him, and thereby fulfilling her own desire to get rid of her?
But KK - can't he do better than dig up a past that Deepu has grown out of? Deepu is today a totally different person, so why bring that up, particularly if you can't remember correctly what actually happened? And his panic attack @ the end was needlessly dramatic.
And Padma thinks she will be redeemed if she can re-unite Jyoti & Pankaj? Doesn't Pankaj need to do more than just be undeceived by Brij? I mean, if Brij can change his opinion about Jyoti, than any Tom, Dick or Harry in the street can. Nothing Jyoti said ever convinced him, but now, on Brij's word, Pankaj is ready to accept Jyoti back again. Why is this something that's in Jyoti's interest, particularly when everything else around - CM, Kesav-ji, Minal - is unchanged? And has Padma forgotten about the fact that Pankaj is re-married, unlike Brij?
Hopefully, after this confrontation and after getting this new job, Jyoti leaves the house. And ignore Padma or Pankaj whenever they come to you.
Episode rating: đđźđđź
Highs: Jyoti getting the job
Lows: The entire Deepu confrontation w/ first Jyoti, & then KK. And KK was pathetic, as usual!
