I think this line describes Sid's problem in a nutshell.

HE is a great friend to one and all. WHen he feels someone is his friend , SId is the best friend to have. RIdz, Naina, Yuvi, even Armaan. One of the reason that SId is still open with Armaan, is because he still feels the bond of friendship between them ( even though that bond is their love for the same woman, but they share the same feelings and hence the empathy)
When Sid felt like a friend towards Ridz, he was all confident and fine ( as his role of a friend in her life). Even when before going to Lonavla, he was fine with settling for a friendship with RIdz but as soon as he saw Ridz and felt the strong pangs of Jealousy, he realised the intimacy that his heart was craving for with Ridzy.
As soon as he, realised his need to be closer to someone, he started getting selfconsious and unsure of himself. His insecurities surfaced. HIs acute need of convincing the other person ( Ridzy) of granting approval to him, grew.
HIS need and at the same time trying to expose his own vulnerability by letting that person enter his personal space, made him uncomfortable and hence the need for approval and re-assurance from someone and in this case, it is Armaan, as the next available Friend.
Reminds me of TOm Cruise in JErry Mcguire!!!!!!!!!
The caption of this topic is actually a pick from that movie!!!!!
BUt have to say, many guys face this problem. What say guys??? ANd it is not until the girl makes the move to ease them of their fear, guys remain frozen or act like chicken with their heads cut off!!!!!!
Love SR for their on screen chemistry. Hope they show some more mature moments and interactions ( no Rona dhona). How the heck they became doctors when they do not understand human psychology???? well this show is not about medicine world but more about doctors' love life!!!!!
