Regurgitated storyline

Is it just me, or are people getting really irritated with the typical saas- bahu storyline? I know that Indian cultural revolves around family and most of our television shows consist of stories that focus on family, weddings and love. But I often notice that It creates stereotypes for Indian women, ex. Indian women just want to get married, go to her sasuraal and cook food and take care of everyone..doesn't show any aspirations whatsoever! Im an Indian Girl too, I want to get married in the future, but watching these shows makes me think " OMG! is this all we think about?" What about becoming something other than a Bahu.. maybe if Indian shows stay away from cliche storylines they can provide Role models for young Indian girls. I know India is progressing in equality rights, but please show me some Strong women, im talking about your movies too!..
