Hi ji,

So this week we will be discussing an old comedy fill that I personally enjoy watching (along with Angoor, Golmaal, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron lol):

**I chose Chupke Chupke out of the tie between Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron by asking my two year old neice to choose. She chose Chup Chup which meant Chupke Chupke lol. So sorry if it was not the one you wanted to discuss=).**

The basic story is that Dharmendra and Sharmila love each other and marry; where Dharmendra is a botany prof. Sharmila loves her jijaji (Om Prakash) a lot and praises him like anything which makes Dharmendra feel inferior. Om Prakash has not mean the newly wed couple yet, so Dharmendra goes in disguise as a driver to show Sharmila that he is no less than her jijaji. Now the fun starts. There are many incidents where Om Prakash is made to believe silly things; that Sharmila's marriage is falling apart, she is having an affair with the driver etc. Amitabh Bachchan comes and pretends to be Sharmila's hubby and show jijaji how boring he is. Amitabh falls in love with Jaya who thinks he is cheating on his so called wife.

On a side note, I would highly reccommend thatyou guys watch these classics (for myself they are classics so not generalizing). Some of the ones I'd say you should watch are Chupke Chupke, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Angoor, Chashme Badoor, and Golmaal. This is comedy at its best (in my opinion)

this is wat a comedy is, not movies like welcome or housefull where they show glam bodies to entice us, chupke chupke is a true feel good comedy which keeps u engrossed and makes u laugh a lot!!!!!!

really good, i like the song sa re ga ma--lol--very funny, i actually quite like the chemistry between sharmila tagore and dharmendra---the chokidar scenes and the jijaji teasing scenes r sooo funnnyyyyyyyyyy

OMG love love LOVE this movie, so smart and funny and most importantly, mature - not like today's slapstick, it was real wit. Thanks for picking this one Simranji, one of my top favs!!!

If you have seen the movie, how did you like it?

Love it, one of my fav comedies ever! One of my fav movies overall!

What did you think of the characters?
Very well-written, believable, esp liked that Sharmila's actually had a role and got to deliver some of the really funny stuff unlike contemporary comedies where the girls are just there for show. Bumbling and somewhat nerdy Amitji was also a really fun change from the Angry Young Man he later got typecast as.

Much smarter, much simpler, and much more believable scenarios.

Om Prakashji was in a league of his own... Amitji and Dharamji made a great team, very realistic as best friends. Loved them!
