Rakshanda Khan, Shilpa Saklani and Apurva Agnihotri landed in Durban on Wednesday to "scope out the opportunities and do a little sightseeing".
The trio are well established actors on the small screen in India, and fans of the daily soapieKyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which ran for 10 years, will be familiar with both Khan and Saklani.
Khan also starred with Saklani's husband of six years, Agnihotri, in the Hindi version of the popular US series Ugly Betty.
Khan, who, with Durban fashion designer Haroon Hansrot, is co-owner of a local clothing store, 75, often flies between Mumbai and Durban.
She said she and her friends were investigating TV-related business ventures in South Africa, but nothing had yet been set in stone.
"There are so many opportunities in South Africa in terms of the media, and I feel that it hasn't been tapped into. There is so much work that we would like to get done here in SA in conjunction with India. But at the moment we are not talking about it," she said.
Agnihotri is no stranger to the big screen either, having got his break alongside Bollywood heavyweight Shahrukh Khan in the '90s classic Pardesi.
Unlike Khan, Agnihotri and Saklani are both first-time visitors to the country, but they say they have already fallen in love with South Africa.
"I loved it from above, before we even landed" said Agnihotri.
"You see the locations shot in the movies and you wonder, 'Are they only showing us this one place? Surely the whole country cannot be this beautiful?' But it is, and Durban is like a second home," said Saklani.
As for their goals, both beauties want to try their hand at production.
"We want to be the slave drivers for a change," said Saklani.
Agnihotri wants to take a turn behind the camera.
"Before I take my last breath, I would like to direct. I write screenplays, and my wish is to one day see my work on the screen."
