I have no sympathy for the Seethi family - they seriously deserve a good kick in the pants. The family has some serious self-righteous issues. If they had any self-respect their daughter would not have had a one night stand with a guy whose name she didn't even know. Heck the girl was not even drunk at the time!

Talking about Neetu, I have ZERO sympathy for her. Didn't she shoot her mouth of to her parents that she didn't care about anyone finding out if she was pregnant and was willing to be a single mother? Didn't her sister agree to marry Nakul so that she would agree to marry Omi and save the family from embarassment? The character of Neetu has shown NO regret for her action or the fact that she nearly ruined her own sister's and Abhi's life. A few tears and an "I'm sorry" and that is what we got. The CVs did the half-azz apology (Neetu to Simi) on purpose so that we (the audience) might have felt some sadness for Neetu when Nakul let the cat out of the bag.
Sorry, but I really didn't care for Simi's humilation either; she agreed to marry Nakul while she was galavanting around with another guy. She didn't care about what would happen to either Nakul or Abhi. So no sympathy for her either.
Now just immagination if she had married Nakul and he had found out that Neetu was pregnant. That marriage would have been a total waste of time.

As for Manju, she also deserves what she got. She wants to please the public, this is what you get. And the whole neighborhood knows about Anuj so why are they so embarassed - everyone saw him get arrested or are the writers lacking so much with regards to their short-term memory they have forgotten?

Truly, right now, I am on the side of Nakul Singh Daggar who has my sympathies. Knowing this, the writers have to make us dislike him so they are going to have him rape Mili.

Otherwise, on my part, I actually laughed at watching the humilation of the Seethi family. That tells you how bad the writing of this show has fallen as there was a time I actually liked this family, but now, I would hate to have any association with them if I met people like them in real life.

RS kept warning them right from the time Abhi and Simi's roka happened.. He was ready to go and tell Nakul's dadi that we do not wish to get Simi married to Nakul
Manju stopped him that time saying that there will be a big issue abt it
He stopped
Then next when Neetus pregnancy came up Manju decided that she will tie up Omi with Neetu as Dadi sais she wanted both the Sethi daughters in their family.. Simi kept quite them that was bad in spite of accepting Abhi's Roka and on top of it Neetu's stubbornness..

Now by this the whole mahulla will make them feel ashamed..
So how will they live in 12/24 KB with their head up
I wonder now the next drastic step Nakul said clearly he will take would be soo shameful for them to be staying there

Now what is the role of vishal iof he is suppose to be the guy for Milli
What in the world are the writers planning on having Milli fall for Abhi since he will save her from being raped by nakul
Now with all this mess will they be able to live in peace
They are doomed atleast with soo many incidents taking place
The kids are making RS suffer and Manju is also equally to be blamed for this
So basically RS's name is totally being badnaamed and there is no sympathy for him since he is attached to this family who have been constantly hiding things and doing wrong to the fear of society and thus falling into such humiliation

Completely agree with all you have said in this post, Laila.
Many feel Nakul went overboard in accusing Mili - agree. But it often happens to all of us, when we are extremely angry and upset with somebody's actions and start a tirade against them, we usually end up flinging all kinds of accusations we can think of (so typical in husban-wife fights). So I think in this kind of situation where Nakul realises the Sethis have made a fool out of him and his family and worse, are going around with a holier-than-thou attitude, his anger and tirade are justified and so is his getting carried away and flinging extra accusations.
With so many sins piled up by her family, Mili should have drowned herself in "chullu-bhar paani", not slapped anybody.
If this new friend of Mili's has any sense he should run for his life now!

I agree with you right there. I feel that Mili's behavior was uncalled for. Yes he did throw a slur at her but can you blame him with the whole family having deceived him.

Disagree ... Laila, what does the family's self-respect have to do with their daughter being true to her biology? 'One night stands' are commonplace and part of our human heritage ... they're here to stay as long as humanity is around. What she did was done as a consenting adult ... it was not coerced ... had it happened with her in an inebriated state, then that would be a cause for some real worry - from a legal standpoint.
Sorry, but I really didn't care for Simi's humilation either; she agreed to marry Nakul while she was galavanting around with another guy.
Strictly speaking, she gave Abhi a 'Dear John' letter to his face before moving on to the fiasco with Nakul ... but that entire setup from beginning to end was written by a brain-dead scribe at Sunshine Inc.
Truly, right now, I am on the side of Nakul Singh Daggar who has my sympathies.
Why??!! The fellow's a troglodyte!! He lies, steals, bullies, threatens, attempts to bribe, aids and abets the likes of Bhalla, wants Omi out of the way; is pompous; is a popinjay ... I detest and loathe him! Not a single, solitary redeeming quality ... and I cannot forget that late night chat he had with granny where the latter urged him to make haste vis-a-vis the upcoming engagements and nuptials before 'all was discovered' ... what were those 2 cooking??!! That's probably been 'overcome by events' ... too much for our inexperienced Sunshine Inc. scribes!

It might be common place, but in the world where most of us come from, one night stands are often frowned upon. And in relation to traditional middle class famlies - this is not considered "OK" behavior. If she was drunk you could at least say she was not thinking rationally about what she was doing - blame on the alcohol that would lead her to behave in a manner she would not have behaved if she was sober - at least she wouldn't appear to have been such a big dimwit. But i forgot, she is meant to be a dimwit!.

Yes, he has my sympathies over the Seethis because they did screw him over. This does not mean I like his character of think he is decent human being. I agree, Nakul and his dadi did not have good intentions either hiding Omi's character, but they do have one up in that they did let her see him before she married him and she could have always said "NO" and she, Neetu, chose not too.

Fine ... let's take this first.
Culture is not immutable ... it changes and should change based on what we understand to be factually correct as opposed to fiction that we are brain-washed into thinking as fact. One such fiction is that a consenting adult having sex outside of 'marriage' (which, after all is said and done, has sex as the primary motive) is 'not OK' and even 'sinful'!
Now, Neetu was 'attracted' to Vicky why? For his brains??!! I think the unequivocal answer to that would be 'hell NO!' ... their's was a mutual, physical attraction which means that 'biology' was in play ... the consequence of that attraction was perfectly natural in keeping with the 'facts of life' ... this may not sit well with a bunch of people, but if social mores are to change (and they must), getting one's facts straight may be the place to begin. It behooves no one to suggest that her act was 'dimwitted' ... it wasn't. Were it a non consenting adult or a minor then we should have conniptions.
I go back to my question of why should KB only introduce the subject of age vs love&marriage as an issue to be considered by society?! Here's another!
Yes, he has my sympathies over the Seethis because they did screw him over.
In my estimation, he got his just deserts ... I recall well how his Gramps blackmailed the Sethis into agreeing to her offensive demands ... and he lied about how Omi had been studying/working in America!! Pray tell, how has Nakul been screwed over with regard to Neetu's pregnancy?! If anyone has, it's Omi!! So, if the latter is accepting of his wife's condition, it's none of Nakul's damn business to be butting his nose in! He's no saint y'know ... what about his shenanigans with the medication that keeps Omi in a state of perpetual 'bliss'??!!

Sex outside of marriage and one night stands go by different rules. One practice is considered appropriate another is frowned upon. Had they been in a long term relationship and then she was pregnant and he walked out on her - I think that would generate some empathy for her character.

Interesting point - yes, if his brother does not have a problem. Then it looks like perhaps Mr. Daggar's ego has been trampled upon then rather than anything else. 😆
The key point of my post is that the situation (the behavior of Nakul's) was supposed to generate sympathy for the Seethi's plight, but it didn't do it for me. Did it work for you?

Sex outside of marriage and one night stands go by different rules. One practice is considered appropriate another is frowned upon.
Rules are not always just ... they are frequently used to maintain the status quo ... 'considered' appropriate is subject to change ... there are tons of social practices that should be considered abhorrent and are nevertheless foisted on unwilling members of society e.g. female genital mutilation ... and others that are innocuous are considered abhorrent e.g. 80% or more of children born in Iceland are 'illegitimate', not stigmatized, and grow up to be fine people ... but this is unacceptable in most other parts of the world ... that was my point ...
Where my empathy for Neetu vaporized was when she went all nutso, crazy against Simi ...
That would be a matter of opinion.
Indeed it is a matter of opinion ... the question to ask is: are/should social mores be cast in concrete - in perpetuity?!
Then it looks like perhaps Mr. Daggar's ego has been trampled upon then rather than anything else.
Yup! Sho' has! He's slipping from his place as 'head honcho'!
Sympathy for the Sethis?! Yes and no ... there's little reason to hold Poppa S. culpable ... and insofar as this matter of the pregnancy is concerned, Simi did try and do the reasonable thing with Neetu who balked (first an abortion, second a marriage with Vicky) ... why should Mili be held responsible for anything? So, I do not consider those 2 to be culpable either ... the one person who is the most to blame is Momma S. and to a lesser extent, Anuj. Strictly speaking Anita is a Sethi who is sui generis when it comes to things evil.
