SMALL SCREEN'S SINFULLY SEXY HUNKS STEAL THE SHOW FROM THE COY BAHU-BETI BRIGADE.
If you thought that male movie stars are the only ones who are pin-up heartthrobs for their millions of women viewers around the country, then you are wrong. The small screen is proving to be a big determinant in providing prime time eye-candy in form of some hot bods, who flaunt their rippling muscles and flamboyant charm on screen, wowing their viewers. Even though the plotline in most prime time shows are essentially predictable with sobbing leading ladies hogging the limelight, there are definitely some big pluses to watching these shows, thanks to the dishy TV hunks who make the viewing pleasurable.Until recently, men used to be curious novelties in tellyland used more as props, thanks to the majority of women-centric soaps. But now, they've come a mighty long way from being little more than just set decoration or stereotypical chauvinists. If not anything they give the fairer sex loads to drool about. A new group of actors — Arjun Bijlani, Gaurav Khanna, Mohit Sehgal,Karan Singh Grover, Siddharth Shukla, Aditya Redij and Mishal Raheja — is appealing to a new generation of fans with their on screen personas. They're sexy, handsome and yes, very successful.
With his rough and tough performance as Datta Bhau in Laagi Tujhse Lagan, actor Mishal Raheja who'd earlier done the mushy Love Story on TV, has muscled his way into the hearts of the female viewers. "Of the fresher lot, Mishal is a real hunk. He has capitalised on his good looks," says actor Rukhsaar. Mishal's co-star from the show, Aashka Garodia feels it's his passion for work that makes him "hot". Mishal has worked hard to get into the character of a toughie. I think women find him macho," opines Aashka. Few actors can do the brooding hunk role better than Mishal and he looks particularly cute when he sulks.
Close on his heels is Aditya Redij from Na Aana Iss Des Laado. His suave and smooth style as Raghav is quite a rage. "The show has a rural background, but Aditya has a very smooth style considering his character has studied abroad. So, it comes as a relief to the show and women love him," says actor Hina 'Akshara' Khan. Another small screen heartbreaker is Dill Mill Gayye's Karan Singh Grover. With his broad shoulders and bulging pecs he's the stuff naughty fantasies are made of. Totally smooth and flirty in his manner, KSG as his fans call him, is wellknown for his on screen impish charm and Casanova appeal. "Karan Singh Grover is a complete hunk," gushes actor Sara Khan. "He has a fantastic physique, great attitude and a sparkle in his eye that I guess women find all the more irresistible. Plus being part of a youth show also adds to his appeal," she explains.
One of the hottest faces on TV right now, Gaurav Khanna, with his dreamy eyes and picture-perfect looks. His character (Abeer) in Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam perfectly embodies the innocent charm of a small town lover-boy torn between cast problems and love. Siddharth Shukla as Veer, the silent yuppie has given the character of the sensitive new-age metrosexual man his own trademark charm in Jaane Pehchaani Si Yeh Ajnabi. And all that brooding look only adds to his irresistibility on screen, of course.
But it's not just the six-pack small screen stars who are popular, even chocolate heroes with their boy next-door appeal rule the roost. Arjun Bijlani and Mohit Sehgal from Miley Jab Hum Tum are the perfect examples of how to be mischievous yet hot at the same time. Agrees actor Debina Bonnerjee: "Arjun has the right attitude and the perfect physique to appeal to women. He's not over the top when it comes to grooming and his acting is subtle."With so much heat generated on the small screen, who needs the remote?
