Well said LF84, Laali's beauty is so understated yet it's so much a part of her personality and her tragic story. Her mannerisms tell us volumes. Ratan has portrayed a very gentle, kind and loving soul who puts her own few needs above those of others. Even without garish lipstick the tan color on her lips makes her look angelic and innocent.

Her makeup is understated but she still looks sooooo pretty, I think its her bone structure too.

She said in an interview that she had like 4-5 sisters...they must all be beautiful like her! And petite, too.

Her makeup artist really knows her face well...

makeup is muted but she shines. Her eye makeup esp. is gorgeous.

She doesn't need garish Sid style dark red lipstain or anything, her simplicity is her greatest beauty weapon.

laali is a stunning beauty, but because of her role her looks are sort of downplayed. she is suppose to be poor, which is why her hair always looks unkept and sometimes she looks mousy too, however she isn't. i think with the right clothes and makeup she can be stunning.
ratan was also very pretty. her makeup was perfect and not to harsh.
she looked every good on her wedding day.

so the show does have some stunning looking women...jamuni and siddy are other ones. they don't wear much makeup either.
