Round 3: Shilpa Rao

Note:

Shilpa Rao has shown her versatility in her first 2 songs. Singing an item song in her 1st one, and then coming back with a sweet/fun song. This round, she tries the slow/classica/sad style continuing to she her versatility!

I am very fond of this sufi track from Anwar...But this should have been in the male category ....there are duets ..and there are duets ....in this one the male singer kshitij( i think his name )dominated the whole song....Shilpa started with tose Naina Lage ..

Great song, never heard it before. Very nice.

Though Shilpa didn't sing a lot, her first segment was done really well. And then she had 2 different segments later on.

And there have been times where we have scored singers who have sung a lot less than what Shilpa sang here.

Now for the score...


Overall, yeah she didn't sing well. But she did sing really well when she sang. So that counts for a lot too.

She starts off with her voice giving us a preview of this slow and calm track. The real start,

Nice, soft, smooth, and had some variation in her voice. Great feel. Great expressions. The way she sang some of those words really well. Had she kept this pace up she would get a 9 or 10.


Her other sequences were also good, though not as good. But they still had great feel, and she did a good job singing them. Right in with the song, fit perfectly.


Overall, great singing. I think this one compares to Mahalaxmi Iyer's 1st round performance. Their singing was really on the same level, with Mahalaxmi's just a little bit better. Nonetheless, Shilpa did sing more lines here. So, I'll give what I gave that

This is still more than what I usually give minimal sung songs. But Shilpa Rao really left an impact here.

there may be songs where siinger sang 4 lines which I rated higher because the singer had shown variations in her rendition ....

Well..this is a beautiful song...even Maula mere from Anwar is a lovely sufi track...

Well Mahalaxmi Iyer 1st Round in "Aye Ajnabi" for one. Which you gave 8 too. She had 1 line the whole song. Though it was sung with variation. Here, Shilpa in the beginning and ending singing is different. And she sang many more different lines. And her overall singing length was much greater as well. I gave both a 7.

Thanks risingabove for a greaaat song! Although all reality shows, including our game, have developed into a form of entertainment with the mix of masala, comedy, tragedy and romance - the one source or their success is music. This is why I keep returning to risingabove's games, because I get to hear such gems that I would otherwise never have come across. So thanks a lot, risingabove!

I won't say much about Shilpa's singing right now. As a judge it's my job to eliminate all external variables as far as I can when assessing the performance. And those variables can be anything from how many lines there are, who the other singer is, how much of a hit the song was etc etc

One more thing: pleaaaase don't call this a Sufi track! That's highly inaccurate!

Yeah that's what I like about this too. There are couple of songs I've added to my Ipod from this game. This song will probably be another one. I think it got over shadowed by the hit track in this album "Maula Mere Maula". But this one is also a nice track.
