BENEFITS OF CID..A real incident

I know I should be studying and not coming on the forums, but I just had to share this real incident that happened so please do read, so here goes:

My mom is a banking officer and this happened at her bank. The lady who worked at the cash counter had received all the money she got from the costumers and deposited it to the bank. But something went wrong and she had submitted 25,000 rupees short. This was really shocking as she was a very reliable clerk. The bank had demanded the 25,000 from her even though it wasn't her fault.
Everyone was wondering if she didn't have the money, where exactly did it go? So the Manager of the bank asked her to think exactly what had happened and recall all the customers who had come. She thought hard and then it clicked her that a young guy around 20 - 23 yrs had come there to withdraw some money. He had to withdraw 25,000. She recalled that instead of giving him 25,000 she gave him 50,000 by mistake that is she gave him 50 extra notes of 500.

After finding out who the guy worked for it was revealed that it was restaurant owner who had his restaurant just close by to the bank. The manager called the owner to tell the incident. The owner called that guy but that guy said he only had 25,000 with him and showed him the money.
So then again the doubt came on that lady who worked at the cash department. She was in tears and said she was sure she had given the young guy 50,000 instead of 25,000.

The manager then decided to look through the cctv footage. But that time there wasn't a qualified technician who knew how to operate the camera and see the footage. The manager then said that could call the main department for some help. My mom suggested that her daughter can also help as she had some idea about it.The manager was initially reluctant wondering how a third year student will know the operation of a cctv camera but then he gave the permission.

I was busy studying when my mom called me. She told me the incident and I drove to her bank which is quite close by to our house.
Once we started the cctv footage we fast forwarded to the part where the lady cashier had given money to the young guy. WE carefully saw and the lady had indeed given him 100 notes of 500 instead of 50 by mistake. The guy then started counting the notes and since my mom was an expert at counting notes she carefully analyzed how he counted. We saw that after he counted 50 notes. He started counting the rest of them from back. Realizing he had extra money he just rushed through the room pushing two guys aside.

I was like " Mom we have got our man" giving her a thumbs up.

Then the manager called the restaurant owner and we showed him the cctv footage. He was shocked and then he said " give me 15 mins and I will bring him in front of you" . The guy came there and we showed him the proof. The manager and the restaurant owner threatened him that if he doesn't give in the money they will file the case with the police. The guy finally agreed and returned the money.

this incident made the various cases of CID appear in front of me like a mirror. I was like " see mom? theses are the benefits of watching CID."
I recalled the case of the room no 17 when daya was sitting in front of the camera analyzing the tape. I felt like I connected with him through this incident and that particular scene.

I agree it help us real life incidents and some way down the line it helps criminal too. Had that boy seen CID he would have noted that if he had extra money then to count rupees hiding from cctv camera.
