Anupriya Kapoor will play the protagonist, Mandira Mehra, in Sssshh… Phir Koi Hai Season 3. Anupriya was in the news earlier for being defiant with Balaji, something very few artistes do. Her entry will be aired on Saturday, and her character is that of a journalist who enters the dark side because of an assignment she has been given. So what drives her? And what inspires Mandira in her work? We spoke to Anupriya Kapoor about her role and more…
Are you excited to do a horror show?
I have never done a horror show, so yes; I am quite excited to be a part of this show which is full of graphics…

How did you get the offer for Sssshh...Phir Koi Hai?
After my role in Miley Jab Hum Tum got over, I was just relaxing at home and I think on the 10th day I got a call from the production house asking me to be a part of Sssshh… Phir Koi Hai . I said yes because, according to me, it would be a great experience to do a horror show on STAR channel.
Tell us more about your role on the show.
My character's name is Mandira, a journalist who works in a newspaper called Samachar Bharti. She is writing an article on the paranormal and wants to interview Ajinka and his partner Veer, two people who are fighting against the evil Vikrant. She is working hard, and she's under pressure to cover this. The pressure comes from the editor, who expects her to deliver.
Which journalist do you like watching or reading?
In real life, I love watching Barkha Dutt. I love the way she portrays herself, and the main thing which I like about her is that she is focused and her views are not biased. Due to our hectic shooting schedules I don't get time to read newspapers regularly, but I like to read Mumbai Mirror and Mid Day for all the masala news. Among the serious newspapers, I think, I like The Hindu, as there are no biased headlines in this paper.
What kind of journalism would you like to see?
Journalism these days is just a money making profession as there is no quest for real truth. Many news channels and newspapers are owned by political parties. But I feel the journalists should find out the real truth so that the common man gets to know the real truth. In the way Barkha Dutt goes into the depth of an issue.
Are you preparing to follow her reporting style?
Not at all. In this show I am working as per the script and I am following whatever my creative members are telling me…
Did the fact that the character was a journalist affect your decision to take this role?
Not really, I am an actor and I play scripted roles. I don't mind doing anything, romantic shows or horror shows, as I get to learn new things.
Can you describe your character's mindset?
She is a focused girl, she knows her life is in danger, and yet her mindset is strong. She is brave, she is ready to fight against the evil. Though she is scared of ghosts, she still chooses to be with Ajinkya and Veer...
What would your normal working day be like?W
If I'm not shooting I prefer to sleep at least for 8 hours… then I go to the gym which is near Lokhandwala, the area I live in, and in the evening I like to chill out with my friends either at home or at a friend's place. Often we go shopping near Bandra's Linking road.
What is your worst fear?
My worst fear is being separated from loved ones, like my family members...
What do you think of superstitions? Do you believe in any?
I believe that there are certain superstitions and there is something like afterlife ...
Do you like to watch horror based shows?
I love horror shows and I am delighted that in an early start of my career I am doing a horror show.
Which are your favorite horror shows in India and abroad?
Zee Horror Show, the Mirror... Among the new films, I loved watching 1920 and both the sequels of Raaz, Raat...
How is it shooting with Naman Shaw? How is your chemistry with him and Ashish?
It's great working with them. They are both very down-to-earth, and I don't have any difficulty to work with anybody.
Which STAR One shows do you follow?
Miley Jab Hum Tum, I used to like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai also!
If you got the chance, will you work with Ekta Kapoor again?
I would love to work with her again though I had an issue with certain people from the production house but I don't mind working with Balaji.
