Again a society blaming a girl for her character without even trying to finding out the truth..How pathetic we got our independence in 1947 ... we are in 2010 still all women are in the same position...... All the women had to give prof for their truth. Do we women had got our freedom our independence.

Yesterday it was Jyoti. Today it is Santu. sometime Laali sometime someone else .Why all women have to prove to their Husband. Why men never had to prove anything. This society is always biased to women..so sad

I don't agree that Santu had to prove anything .Like Jyoti had not proved anything Santu also should not need to prove anything.......If Dharmaraj is man enough then he should have any doubt about his wife's character when his wife is so good.

Hello Pia ...u r so rite ....we talk of womens lib and womens rights and that women are the equal of men ...but when it comes to honour issues , its alway the women who are held at stake..... A woman has to prove herself time and again for trivial matters whereas a man is never questioned ......a woman like Santu gave up everything for her family and what do they give her in the end ....nothing.. forget family even DM is blind to all the good she brought about in the house...i feel sorry for him and Santu that they never got to live their life properly and all this because of his shelfish kids ....i think all of them should be given dands except of course Suraj....

ummm, what does independence of India have to do with rights of Women. India received its freedom from the British not from Indians. Free nations can also be oppressive. Take US it got's its independence in late 1600 and early 1700. But women and Blacks did not get a right to vote until late 1800.

Every single women in India has her Freedom. If she chooses to not to exercise her rights that is her CHOICE (she has this choice). For example Santu actually owns the entire property. If she did not have freedom then she would not own anything, but rather would be owned by others. People in India who don't have freedom are the children who get sold into slavery by their parents (eg. Agle janam)

What annoyed me about this post is that people( Dear viewbie this is not directed towards anyone in this forum or post) seem to now understand the difference between freedom and not exercising your rights. And technically, non of Santu's rights are being violated either. She is being accused to something, which could actually happen to anyone. And the accusation is her own fault, since she got back she has been working on losing her families trust (viewer know why she is doing this but not her family WHO are the ones accusing).

This lack of distinction was the reason for me asking people to get a better education (again, not directed towards anyone, there is a good chance most people here are not old enough to have taken a Poltical science course, or has discussed slavery in it.)

Lack of Freedom was when the British or other Rulers could make people do things without the people having a choice in the matter. Santu has a choice, she could defend herself, or say " I really don't care what you thing, I am innocent. "

i agree with you completely .but dear in reality it is very tough for a women in a situation like Santu to fight for her self .When she is not educated. her husband is much more older than her
