Hi Everyone!

Thanks again for all the comments!

Chapter 3: Home Sweet Home

The next morning Prem and Preet said their heartfelt thanks for the hospitality that had been shown to them. They quickly ate their breakfast and bid farewell to the Maans. The brothers trekked back to their jeep and changed the flat tire. They arrived back at the Juneja household a little bit before noon like they had promised their parents. The days passed by quickly and before either of the brothers knew summer vacation was over. They had wanted to return to the Maans with proper gifts and thank them again for their hospitality but were preoccupied by their family's own traveling schedule that they never were able to visit them again.

Preet tossed his backpack onto an empty seat and sat down next to his brother. "Can't believe we are finally going home," he said resting his arms underneath his head.

Prem chuckled, "You're going to miss India?"

Preet shook his head, "No, I mean I can't believe we are finally getting to go home."

"Oh come on, it wasn't that bad," Kulraj said picking up her two year old son and placing him on her lap. "We had a lot of fun. There were days...dare I say that I actually saw a smile across your face."

"He's just upset cause 'there weren't any hot chicks in India' for him to hit on," Veera replied sitting down next to her sister and nephew. Preet beamed a smile indicating how well his little sister knew him.

"What? They are plenty of attractive and wholesome girls in India...better than the girls back home that wear such revealing clothes'that I've found out some things that I didn't even know about...and I'm a girl." Kulraj said.

Preet shook his head, "What I mean is on the whole there were a lot that didn't fit my taste. There were few...and there was one...she was nice...but not really my type," and then smiling mischievously patting his brother's chest, "More of Prem Bhaiya's type."

Prem stared at him confusedly while his sisters laughed at him. "What are you talking about, Preet?"

"Come, come'I had to share a couple of rooms with you," he explained, "You don't know the things I would hear coming from your side of the bed at night," reacting with such emphasis, "Ah, my chand...my diamond," then suddenly singing, "chand mera dil...chandini ho tum...chand se hai door...chandini kahan..." Veera and Kulraj were in fits trying to control their laughter.

Prem threatened Preet with his fist, "Shut up, I did no such thing." Though inwardly he wondered if he did say something like that at night as he couldn't recall any such dreams.

"Wah, who knew my little brother could be so romantic," Kulraj teased. Preet surrendered his hands with a smile as Prem just mumbled and sulked at the teasing.

"Well, I had a wonderful time," Veera announced.

"You should of'nearly bought the entire store'EVERY clothing store we went to," Preet grouchily replied. "I swear if I have to sit and watch another one of your fashion shows...I'll personally check myself into an insane asylum."

Prem laughed while Veera chose to ignore her brother's comments. "I got so many great ideas for my fashion line. There were color combinations and designs that I never thought of...and Kangana Auntie taught me how to dye...oh, I just can't wait to test it all out when I get back home."

Kulraj smiled, "It's good to hear that you've already decided what you want to be after you graduate. Preet, dear, what are you going to do? You will be a sophomore this year."

Preet face soured, "I've got plenty of time to decide. Besides I'm doing business like Dad wanted. Anyways what's there to decide? I'll be going into the family business anyways." Kulraj just sadly shook her head wondering when Preet would finally grow up and take some responsibility for himself.

"Prem Bhaiya," Veera slyly started, "the departure time on my ticket seems to be bit blurry can I see yours?"

Prem innocently started to take his ticket out of his jacket pocket when Preet reached over and stopped him. "I don't think so Veera," he replied. "I know what you are up to. We are in sitting in business class, thank you."

Veera pouted and whined, "That's not fair how come you guys got bumped to business and Di and I get stuck in economy?"

"Cause the airline heard about what we had to go through when you dragged us shopping," Preet smartly replied.

Whining some more, "Why couldn't Dad get us business class seats? It's not like we can't afford it."

"Just because we can doesn't mean we have to. Besides it would have been far too expensive for all of us to travel that way. So Dad booked economy," Kulraj explained.

Having some pity for his little sister Preet replied, "I'll tell you what when the lady comes by with the chocolates I'll grab a whole bunch and go back and give them to you. Deal?"

Veera thought for a few minutes and then grinned, "Okay, deal."

Meher looked around, her face feeling flushed as her mother stood in front with the prayer plate. "Mama..." she whined. "Everyone's looking at us..."

"Not's so funny, now that you're on the receiving end of it, is it?" Heer whispered to her.

"I won't be seeing my babies..." Teji cried as she rotated the plate.

"What are you talking about? It's not like we are going away forever. We'll come back during Christmas vacation," Heer replied.

"Haa, Mama...we'll come back...so you can stop now," Meher continued. "We have to go catch our flight."

Balraaj saw the pleading looks from his daughters and softly chuckled, "Dear, I think we better let them go otherwise they are going to miss their flight."

Teji snapped back in comic hysteria, "My Babies are leaving me...and you are Telling Me to not pray for their safety and health?" Balraaj blabbered a bit not knowing what to say. Heer and Meher snickered at the interaction. "Fine, fine, fine..." she said as she gave them each a small tikka on the forehead, "I expect a call when you touch down."

"Yes, Mom," Heer and Meher replied as they quickly turned to leave before anything else could stop them.

"Touch down...you hear...call me," Teji continued to shout.

"Yes, Mom," they both shouted back as they started to sprint away into the airport terminal.

Teji sniffled as the retreating figures of her daughters faded into the crowd. Balraaj stood behind his wife patting her shoulders, "There, there...they are going to be just fine."

Prem looked over at this brother his cheeks puffed as he happily chewed. "I thought you were saving some chocolates for Veera," he asked as he stretched his body.

Preet waved his hand, "Of course...but that doesn't mean I can't have some too." Then sheepishly addressing his brother, "PB, you think you could ask for some more?"

Prem raised his eyebrow, "Just how many did you take?" Preet opened the complimentary airsickness bag showing his brother the stash of chocolates. "When did you get all of those?" he asked in disbelief.

"When you were sleeping," Preet replied. "I think the airhostess is avoiding me."

"Well, I would be too," Prem said sarcastically. Then looking at his brother's pleading face he sighed, "Fine, I'll go ask but this is the first and last time. And you better save those chocolates otherwise Veera's going to drag you off shopping again."

Preet pouted in anger, "That's not a very nice thing to say."

Prem laughed, "Since when was I ever nice to you?"

Kulraj yawned sleepily as she got up from her seat. "I'm going to the restroom. Watch Rishi for me," she instructed.

Veera nodded and looked across the aisle at her nephew who was busily playing with his toy. He grinned at his aunt and said, "Supe-w-man...wanna play with Supe-w-man."

"Superman?" Veera repeated sweetly. "Okay, I'll get you Superman. But you have to sit down and don't go anywhere while I get it for you." Rishi nodded his little head in agreement. Veera unbuckled her seatbelt and walked one row down to the overhead bin to search for Kulraj's carryon bag. Rishi fiddled with his seatbelt and looked over to see Veera's back turn towards him. He slipped out of his seat and started to wander down the aisle. The rest of the passengers were either sleeping or too busy watching the in flight movie that they never noticed a little two year old boy walking past them.

Heer stretched her back and did a couple of neck exercises trying to release the tightness from her body for sitting still for the past 10 hours. She glanced over to see Meher sound asleep purring softly into her pillow. She smiled and pulled the covers up higher for her. She looked around her feeling extremely bored. She didn't want to sleep anymore and she wasn't interested enough to watch the in flight movie. As she pull the Sky Mail magazine out for like the hundredth time to pursue through she saw a tiny hand touch her armrest. "Well, hi there," Heer sweetly greeted. "You look a little lost." Rishi shook his head in response. "No? Okay, then...my name is Heer. What's yours?"

"Wishi," he replied shly.

"Ah, Rishi? Well, it's very nice to meet you Rishi," Heer said reaching out for a handshake. He eagerly grabbed her hand and shook it; giggling cheerfully. Heer giggled along with him. "My, Rishi you have such a strong hand shake. You are going to grow up big and strong like your Papa." He beamed a huge smile at her compliment. "I think we should go find your Mama," she requested. Rishi shook his head. "Nooo? Why not? Don't you miss your Mama? I'm sure she misses you." He shrugged his shoulders in response. Heer then noticed that Rishi was eyeing the bag of cookies on her seat tray. She grinned, "Are you hungry?" He looked down and nodded embarrassingly. Chuckling she opened the bag, "How about this I'll give you a cookie if you come and help me find your Mama?" Rishi stood there contemplating for a minute before agreeing to Heer's proposal. Heer gave Rishi a cookie and then picked him up in her arms and walked back down the aisle in search of his mother.

Veera was having a hard time locating Kulraj's bag. After several minutes of tussling with the other carryon items she found the bag and pulled it out. As she walked closer to Kulraj and Rishi's seat her face turned to horror and panic when she found Rishi not there. "I'm so dead," Veera muttered to herself. Just then Kulraj returned and asked in a surprisingly calm tone, "Where's Rishi, Veera?"

Her eyes bulged at the voice behind her. Afraid of the consequences but knowing she had to; Veera turned around to explain herself, "I-I-just turned for a second'I swear'he wanted to play with his Superman toy. He promised me he would sit still and wait...Di I'm soooo sorry..."

Kulraj held in her anxiety said, "Let's go find him Veera. He couldn't have wonder off that far."

At that moment Heer walked towards them and politely asked, "I think he belongs to you?" Both Veera and Kulraj were relieved to see Rishi again. "He was exploring and came by to say hello," Heer explained.

"He's been doing that a lot lately. I'm so sorry to have troubled you," Kulraj replied. Then noticing her son eating a cookie rather messily, "Oh no, your shirt'"

Heer smiled, "It's all right. I hope you don't mind. He told me he was hungry."

Kulraj chuckled, "Just like his grandfather obsessed with sweets. Thank you for taking care of him."

"It was my pleasure," Heer replied as she handed Rishi back over to his mother.

Rishi grinned and waved, "Bye-bye!"

"Bye-bye, Rishi," Heer giggled.
