5th day... Part III...
Yuvi left after lunch, regarding his work n Naina went to tour the house… An interesting store room containing caskets, old cupboards, antique artifacts were a good pastime for her, there were few large framed photos, probably his ancestors, whom she didn't know n she tried to find Yuvi's resemblance in those members…
Then it was Yuvi's room, she entered… She stepped in with curiosity n hesitation… She was eager to turn all those things, which are his personal… She felt like entering into someone's private space n that someone whom she luvs or with whom she would share her entire life… This thought gave her a mild blush… The room was fairly untidy… A table with his lappy, few books laying on the table n the bed… Few of his shirts littering his bed n chair…
She just observed everything n nothing got into her mind first, except for the feeling, that everything were close to Yuvi… Her hesitation vanishing now n her luv for Yuvi, urging her to feel more closer, folded his shirts, placing the books on the book shelf, she tidied the entire room… She didn't feel like that she is taking any responsibility but felt an interest in handling things which are related to Yuvi… N then she found an album… The album which she found in his wardrobe, laying in the bottom of a drawer there… The photos were a sequence of his childhood with his parents, brother n few others whom she didn't know…
Later that evening, Yuvi entered his room n it was clearly noticeable, his room unusually neat… It didn't take much time for him to recognize who would have tidied his room… With a smile, he admired the neatness, which had Naina's touch including a flower vase (recognized the brass vase which she had brought from the store room…) with fresh flowers… Then his eyes fell on the album that was on the table… Temper rising, he took the album, he walked out, calling for Naina… Naina was in her room, reading a book, unaware of his return…
Yuvi : *entering Naina's room… growling her name…* Naina… Naina…
Naina : *Seeing his temper… Shocked* What happened Yuvi?
Yuvi : Did you take this out? *b/w gritted teeth… Carelessly throwing the album on the bed…*
Naina : *His temper did stir her n scared her…* Yuvi… I arranged your things… *With hesitation…*
Yuvi : Did you take this out? *His eyes boring into hers, bringing a chill in her…*
Naina : *Scared n hesitantly…* Yes…
Yuvi : Don't you think that you should have asked me before taking this… *Yuvi advancing n she moving behind…*
Naina : *With the same hesitation…* Its your album, so I thou..ght… *Yuvi didn't let her finish the sentence… He abruptly took Naina's wrist folding it behind her, pinning her against the wall n the other wrist of Naina's caught in his other hand, against the wall… N Naina shocked n scared, she was unable to get where she went wrong n his fiery eyes making her unable to think for that moment…*
Yuvi : Who gave you permission to take this? *Temper raising n words b/w gritted teeth… Naina stood still n scared in his hold…* Who gave you the rights to take this?
Naina : *Her scare vanishing gradually…* Don't I have the rights over you n your things, Yuvi? *She looked into his eyes with pain n shock…*
Yuvi realized what he said was wrong n his grip slackened, released one of her wrist which she was holding behind her… He turned his face to his side thinking about his blunder, closed his eyes for few seconds… He felt Naina struggling to get away, whose face was burning with anger… He then noticed her wrist gripped in his hand, against the wall… But he let her go, he had to explain his mistake… Moved a little closer to Naina n saw her eyes sparkling with water n anger n she still struggled to get away… Yuvi blocked her placing his other hand against the wall…
Yuvi : Naina… I didn't mean that… *Looking into her eyes…*
Naina : *Turning her head sideways…* I don't want to hear anything Yuvi… *Her breathing becoming heavy n the neck nerve beating fast… She stood with tightly shut eyes…*
Yuvi : Naina… You have all the rights over me… *Trying his best to make her listen… But she didn't budge, the same heavy breath n the tightly shut eyes…*
Yuvi understood that she will not listen to his words now, tucked her hair, n gave way for her to go from his grip… He walked to the door n stood there…
Yuvi : *Looked behind at Naina who was on her bed in the verge of crying… He wanted to stay with her, but understood she won't like it… At last found his voice n words to say…* You have all the rights over me, Naina… You alone… You know me… We will speak later… *Left the room…*
It was time for dinner, both were silent but answering Jiggy's questions promptly… When Jiggy asked, why they were so quiet… Yuvi answered that he was tired… N Yuvi made Jiggy to speak throughout the dinner, questioning about the place. Jiggy visited… Yuvi took care that naina was not interrupted n Naina too noticed Yuvi's motive… N their misunderstanding remained to themselves, n this went unnoticed to the entire world, including Jiggy…
It was twenty past two in the night, Yuvi was standing beside his bedroom window, staring into the deep darkness of the sky… The stars n the beautiful half moon, failed to reach his knowledge… He made up his mind n walked steadily out…
In Naina's room, she was half lying on the sofa, near the fire place… Having shed some tears that evening, her mind had started working again… She was thinking about Yuvi's behaviour… The words he spoke before he left the room, now ringing in her ears… Having closely moved with Yuvi, all these days, by now she had come to understand his every move n the meaning behind his action… She understood that something about the album was struggling him… She was sure that he will have explanation n was now annoyed, why hadn't he yet turned up…
Her door was knocked, earlier she had left her door unlocked expecting Yuvi… She answered 'Yes…' raising to sit… Turned to see him, approach her… Yuvi looked into her eyes as he walked, got near her n her head raised to see him n his eyes, her eyes now questioning him… His eyes now staring the fire place, his head tilted towards it, he walked away from Naina to the fire place, stood facing the fire place n his back to her… His hands tight behind, one hand holding his other wrist in a tight grip… N his fist closed tightly… His posture was strict n still with pursed lip… N his eyes lingering at the far edge of the fire place, which spoke about his pain n grief…
Naina could realize the pain that Yuvi is undergoing… She could also realize that the album was about his lost childhood n his painful past… N now if he is here, she could understand that he wanted to share his feelings, heart with her… She didn't even remember that they both had a misunderstanding this evening… She raised n walked to him slowly…
Yuvi didn't seem to notice her n also the pain he, himself is inflicting on his wrist n closed fist… But Naina felt the pain… She touched his hand n Yuvi came back to reality… He felt the soft fingers of Naina on his hand, immediately took her hand into both his hands bringing her closer to him…
Yuvi : *Looked into her eyes, caressing her cheek…* I have to speak with you… N tell you about me…
Naina looked into his eyes n nodded… Yuvi took her by her hand out of the room… She didn't question him… Took her to the spacious hall upstairs, allowed her sit on the large sofa… He opened the window to let the chill breeze in… Sat next to her, closer to her n took one of her hand in his, clasped his fingers into hers…
Yuvi : *Looking at the locked fingers with a sarcastic grin…* I don't know where to start but I feel I must tell you everything about my childhood… Did you see the album?
Naina : *Nodded with a blank stare…* Yes… *With a hesitation, if he would accuse her again…*
Yuvi : *With a soft smile… Tucked her hair…* If not today, I would have shown you the album someday in future…
Naina : Why were you so much annoyed then? *With a pain in her eyes…*
Yuvi : *Feeling hurt about Naina's pain that he caused… Held her cheek n neck to face him…* Naina… I haven't spoken about my pain to anyone, not even to my close friend… This will be the first n last time that I speak about this matter… *He fell silent for some time…*
Naina noticed the tension n the pain he went through… Also she felt the pain in her fingers as his grip tightened… She touched his hand, Yuvi then realized his grip n relaxed…
Yuvi : I don't want to speak about this later in future… You understand… *His eyes questioning her…*
Naina : *Nodded…* I won't speak about this again… If you wish, we shall later, if it hurts you that much…
Yuvi : *With a sarcastic grin…* It will be same anytime… my father passed away when I was too young… He used to carry me, play with me… I have only faint memories of my father… It was always my mother n my brother in my life… She followed me with a plate of food, feeding me as I got ready for school… It was the daily story… I hurried to my school, collecting my books, shoes at the last moment… I stood with shoe in one hand n tie in another, when my brother used to help find my books… I had my own study table which I rarely used…Before exams, I sat under the trees with books n fell asleep… I hated the home works the most, which I usually completed the next morning before starting for school… N brother helped me wear my shoes n uniform, while I wrote my home work… No one scolded me as far as I remember… Always I was luvd n lauded… *He fell silent again lost in thoughts… Naina felt the pain in her heart n didn't want to hear anymore of his past that hurt him… She moved closer to him resting her hand on his shoulder…*
Naina : *She wanted to change his mood…* My mom… I don't remember her... But it was my dad, brothers n dada, dadi who were with me, when I turned home on holidays from hostel… *releasing her locked hand from Yuvi's, she holded onto his arms with both her hands, turning to his side…*
Yuvi : *It also came to his mind how in his anger that he acted violently that evening n hesitantly…* Naina… am… this evening… *Inhaling deeply…* I shouldn't have acted like that… am sorry… *He felt even more bad now… His eyebrows frowned n his eyes reflecting his pain…*
Naina : *looked at his face… She couldn't bear his pain...* Its alright Yuvi.. It was your momentary anger that you showed me… *One of her hands on his cheek…*
Yuvi : * Yuvi looked into her eyes…* I was worried about how am going to explain you, that what I feel for you… You are my life n you are everything for me…*He clutched her hand n kissed softly…*
Naina : *Wishing to change his mood, called him abruptly…* Yuvi… Won't you ask me about my childhood days?
Yuvi : *Grinning at her, feeling comfortable coz' of her closeness n the change of subject which he realize that she did for him…* How did you spend your time at home during your holidays?
Naina : *Happily…* All my cousins pour in… It was fun running across the house playing hide n seek, breaking glassware, crockery n getting whacked by aunts… But brother used to support me…
Yuvi : *Smiling…* N how was your hostel life?
Naina : Hostel life means my best friend n with every other friends… dancing, singing n so much of chatting… We had compulsory study hours while the warden watched over us… Warden used to doze sitting on the chair… N then we played passing chits, celebrating friend's birthday in the hostel room with cakes n chocolates at 12 in the night under torch lights… Was so much fun…
Naina raised her eyes a little to get Yuvi's mood… There was a grin on his face…
Yuvi : Am reminded of Mac when I think about hostel… Every time returned late to hostel after the permitted hours… N usually jumped over the wall n sneaked into our room… You just wait… I'll be back now… *Yuvi returned with an album…* College days with Mac n friends…
Naina felt happy to see Yuvi's attempt to come out of the gripping mood… She eagerly got the album from his hand n when he sat next to her, she comfortably sat with her legs folded to her left on the sofa n leaning to right on yuvi… They both saw the photos as Yuvi detailed the situation…
Yuvi : Mac did everything to make me happy… There's one interesting thing that happened… Once he asked me to deliver a luv letter to a girl… Usually I never did such things… But that day I had to… *He laughed softly…*
Naina ; *Eagerly* Then what happened? Tell me Yuvi…
Yuvi : You know that I was a basket ball player… N every player had their own fans in the college… N this girl turned out to be one of my fans… *He started laughing now…*
Naina : What happened then?!! She thought you luvd her… Right? N that the luv letter was from you… Tell me…
Yuvi laughed even more while Naina pulled his arm…
Yuvi : You are right… I just Mac to her n walked away…*Naina gave a wide smile looked at him n punched his arm… N then she rested her head on his shoulder…* Mac came to stay with me here during vacations… We had good time together… Even worked in the vineyard n the farmland together…
Naina : So Dr. Yuvi is also a farmer… *Said sleepily…*
Yuvi : Hmmm… Good to learn new things… We both were similar in this aspect… We never hesitated to learn new things… *Yuvi half lying on the sofa resting his head comfortably on the sofa.…*
Naina : Including rowdyism… *Sleepily with a smile…*
Yuvi : *Smiled… looked at her who was really sleepy* Naina… I think you should get to sleep… *Though he wanted her to be with him… Her presence gave him a comfort having lived a lonely life all these years…*
Naina : *Raised her head n looking at him…* I want to speak with you… *In a childlike expression…*
Felt happy that she too liked to stay with him… Yuvi pulled his left arm which Naina was holding… Naina still looked at Yuvi, with a childlike expression, sleepily stared at his face n his arm, which he pulled away … With a smile, Yuvi placed his hand around her shoulder, bringing her closer n with his other hand, tucked her hair n positioned her to rest her head on his chest, her cheeks pressed to him... Naina comfortably adjusted herself to his hug…
Naina : I had a close friend in my place… Was my neighbour… My close friend… Married now… *Sleepily…* She didn't go to college… Conservative family… Sweet girl… Taught me to make coffee… A close friend… We both… Both…
Yuvi : *Hugging her softly n in a soft tone…* Naina, we'll speak tomorrow…
Naina : No… *In a diminishing sleepy tone…* We both… Played…
Yuvi : Shhhh… *N kissed her forehead…* Naina sleep now… *N she fell silent…*
Yuvi watched her sweet face n listened to her soft breath for some time… Naina murmured his name n something that Yuvi couldn't decipher… He gave her soft hug n caressed her cheek… Naina fell into a deep sleep… Yuvi's happiness was boundless… It was nearing five… He too slept in few minutes…
