What can viewers look forward to watching in your new show?
Geet is a family based show and I am playing a 21 year old, who is getting ready for marriage. Think of it as a traditional Punjabi drama, where girls don't talk much and they don't have the right to speak out in what is really a male dominated society. This show is based on the story of a real NRI Punjabi family.
How did you land the role of Geet?
I was doing Dill Mill Gayye, in which I played the role of Dr.Muskaan. My character in the show went off air and I was on a two month break. That's why I got a phone call regarding this show. I auditioned for the role and I was chosen!
In what way is Geet different from Dhrashti Dhami?
Oh, I am loud! Always talking and very carefree in real life. On the other hand Geet is very scared, a sidhi-sadhi sort and very girlie. Someone who speaks very little. You might say she is completely my opposite, but I am enjoying playing her and it is a totally different experience for me to behave like that!
What's acting in the show like?
It's wonderful, touch wood! I haven't yet received any negative vibes from my co-actors and among the co-actors, I am very close to my on-screen mother which is played by Shalini Kapoor.
Do you think Dr. Muskaan might return to Dill Mill Gayye?
Not really. My track is over but I am very happy for Karan Singh Grover, who is back on the show and I hope that with his entry does the show well.
Richa, Creative Head of the show tell us, "To create the correct image of Geet (a typical Punjabi girl) was very difficult initially. We worked for 3 months to get the look. We had to really convince Dhrashti to speak little so that the docile Geet would be visible. All her outfits (salwar-kameez) have being designed by Nisha Bedi-Roy and we had told her to use bright pastel colors which includes shades of yellow and turquoise blue. I am hoping that every girl in our audience who preserves traditional values will recognise and relate to Geet."
The show also stars Abhinav Shukla as Geet's NRI husband and Gurmeet Chaudhary in the second lead. Others part of Geet's family include, Talat Reikhi, Vicky Ahuja, Shalini Kapoor, Beizaad Khan, Rinku Vohra, Neelu Kohli, Jitendra Bhardwaj.
Geet ' Hui Sabse Parayi starts from April 5 on STAR One, Monday to Friday at 9.30pm
