I've recently been listening to "Na to Caravan ki talaash hai" and the lyrics, in general, are gorgeous. Yet I find myself able to interpret the song in the view of the Armaan-Riddhima-Sid situation.
Armaan going to meet Riddhima:
Na to caravan ki talaash hai, na to humsafer ki talaash hai
Mere Shauq-e-khaana kharab ko, teri rehguzaar ki talaash hai
( I do not seek a place to stay, I do not seek a fellow traveller
My ruined desires follow the path that leads to you)
Tera Ishq Hai Meri Aarzoo, Tera Ishq Hai Meri Aabroo
Dil Ishq Jism Ishq Hai Aur Jaan Ishq Hai
Imaan Ki Jo Poochho To Imaan Ishq Hai
Tera Ishq Hai Meri Aarzoo, Tera Ishq Hai Meri Aabroo,
Tera Ishq Maein Kaise Chhod Doon, Meri Umra Bhar Ki Talaash Hai
(I yearn for you love, your love is my honour
The heart, the body and life is love
If you ask for faith then that too is love
Your love is my honour, how can I live without it?
Sid to Armaan about Riddhima:
Jaansoz Ki Haalat Ko Jaansoz Hi Samjhega
Maein Shamaa Se Kehta Hoon Mehfil Se Nahin Kehta Kyonki
Ye Ishq Ishq Hai Ishq Ishq, Ye Ishq Ishq Hai Ishq Ishq
(Only a tormented soul can understand another's torment
I address myself to shama and not to others gathered here because
Everything is love only love)
Why Sid thinks his love is nothing compared to Armaan and Riddhima's:
Vehshat-E-Dil Rasm-O-Deedaar Se Roki Na Gayi
Kisi Khanjar, Kisi Talvaar Se Roki Na Gayi
Ishq Majnu Ki Vo Aavaz Hai Jiske Aage
Koi Laila Kisi Deewaar Se Roki Na Gayi
(The gallows itself cannot resist the power of love
Daggers and swords cannot resist the power of love
The power of love is legendary
No barrier can keep lovers apart)
Both Armaan/Sid to Riddhima:
Wo haske agar mange to hum jaan bhi dede
Yeh jaan bhi kya cheez hai? Imaan bhi dede!
(For one of her smiles, I would give up my life
What is life? For her, I would sacrifice my faith)
When Riddhima drank the poison, her feelings before Sid knocked some sense into her👏
Naaz-O-Andaaz Se Kehte Hain Ki Jeena Hoga,
Zehar Bhi Dete Hain To Kehte Hain Ki Peena Hoga
Jab Maein Peeta Hoon To Kehten Hai Ki Marta Bhi Nahin,
Jab Maein Marta Hoon To Kehte Hain Ki Jeena Hoga
(I am told to drink poison and accept my fate with grace (i.e. what was her marriage to Sid)
But when I drink, I do not die
And when I am dying, I am told I must live)
My words for the three poor souls Ammy-Ridhzie-Sidster:
Mazhab-E-Ishq Ki Har Rasm Kadi Hoti Hai,
Har Kadam Par Koi Deewaar Khadi Hoti Hai
(The rules of love are severe
there is a barrier at each step)
Raah Ulfat Ki Kathin Hai Ise Aasaan Na Samajh
(Love is strewn with obstacles, the path is not easy)
Why Riddhima cannot ignore Sid's kindness in giving her a second life, how he turned her morbid self after losing Armaan into a human being:
Khaaq Ko But, Aur But Ko Devta Karta Hai Ishq
Intaha Ye Hai Ke Bande Ko Khuda Karta Hai Ishq
(Love can turn clay into idols, idols into Gods
Lover had the power to turn a person into a revered God)
Yeh Ishq Ishq hai, Ishq Ishq.

was executed to quite an extent in the episode today. Riddhima is troubled, she finds herself standing on the tip of a knife, only she will be divided in choice to either
(I) sacrifice the love of her life to reinforce her loyalties towards her husband to whom she owes this second chance or
(ii) discard the marital bond which was merely an "obligation" arising in the desperate circumstances at the time, and thus accepting the one she has always loved....
But she can't. She doesn't consider the marriage an "obligation", even when Sid had repeatedly tarnished their relationship with the use of such a degrading word it was intolerable for Riddhima to hear. She had always acknowledged marriage to be the sacred truth between two beings, and she always expected herself to treat it the same too. So now that when, finally, her and Sid had started to agree on this one thing.....how could she change her own mind and turn ludicrously hypocritical?
But Armaan.....he had come back. Now? Why now? She had travelled all the way to Panchgani, even till the last moments before her wedding her eyes fixed on the door that he would walk in now, to stop her...yet he hadn't. Why today? When she had finally accepted the new meaning to her life. Seeing him, just reminded her of the old times, the intern Dr. Riddhima Gupta and her competition, her best friend, her better half Dr. Armaan Malik. She was temporarily lost in the deep oceans of his eyes, the one thing about him that would never change. And she had leant forward in an embrace, happy to see him....then she realised, she wasn't "the intern" Dr. Riddhima Gupta.
She was "Senior Dr. Riddhima Siddhanth Modi".
A sharp intake of breath upon the realisation. Her eyes widened in shock, she had to get away from here, her head was spinning. If she stayed, she would do something she regretted, she couldn't face the truth, the only option was to run from it. Run away from her past and back to the present. She had only just managed to straighten things out, for what reason would they get complicated again??
Riddhima directs her future. Her past and present are two separate parts of her live, two separate entities exist in both worlds who have contributed significantly, each person giving her the meaning behind her life. Which is why these two worlds can never meet...their meanings are of conflicting interests....
Armaan stands alone, trying to ascertain how in these months they were separate from one another, she can just run away? And he incorrectly presumes the reason for her evasion because he had once left her the same way...he had his reasons then. Of course, some things would never change, he had some grovelling to do....
Riddhima returns to her refuge and abruptly finds herself face to face with Siddhanth. Two worlds which cannot meet, no matter what....therefore she fails to disclose anything about Armaan, not yet anyway. She, herself, could not comprehend the situation before her, so how to make Siddhanth understand? Where to start? Where to finish...she apolgies and cowers away...needing some time to think....
Siddhanth=confused.com, the only person who had been aware of what was going on was back at square one again, looking either side, he found Armaan and Riddhima standing alongside him, all wearing the same perplexed expressions. Who would make the first move? And who would be closely following behind to meet them halfway?
Remember Riddhima...
"We cannot change our past. We can not change the fact that people act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude."
