Besides emphasizing the threshold and Dev's stepping out of PB another thing that struck me was the sanskrit shlok playing in the background while Dev was looking under the hood of the car. I don't understand sanskrit but I recognized the words 'chakravyuh', 'pravesh' and 'rahasya' which may mean that Dev is going to enter some kind of web and is probably going to unearth a secret. If someone can give the meaning of that shlok I would really appreciate it.

desi-indian, Arjun did not enter the chakravyuha it was his son Abhimanyu who was surrounded by the chakravyuha. Abhimanyu knew how to enter the chakra this knowledge he got when he was in his mother Subhadra's womb, that teaching was given to him by Lord Krishna. However, it is sad to know that Abhimanyu entered the chkra bravely although he was only a youth but could not come out of chkra because he did not know how to return, his mom had fallen asleep when she was listening to Krishna. Sad but one of the greatest stories of Mahabharath.

Avi, I have the shlok. I will try and get it translated verbatim and get back to you. I don't know Sanskrit that well.
Basically the shlok recites the story of how Abhimanyu, son of Arjun, learned of the entry into the Chakravyuh by listening to Shri Krishna tell Abhimanyu's mother Saubhadhra (his 1/2 sister) while she was carrying him in her womb. When Shri Krishna came to know of Abhimanyu listening in from the womb he stopped, but stopped at the point of explaining the entry into the Chakravyuh. Hence Abhimanyu never heard of the way to exit from the Chakravyuh and dies in the war. There was treachery involved in Abhimanyu' s death and if you go on-line, you can read the whole story at any one of the many websites.

Well, the sholak was played as it indicated that Dev is entering the chakravyuh where all the well wishers are sort of left helpless and he is sorrounded by evil forces everywhere. I think Shantanu tempered with his car so that Dev could be manipulated into coming to his home. Also, I think the delay was to let Vishaka play her cards very well.
At this time, only Dadi, Vaishali, Vivek and Birju are the good people. But, they rely a lot on Dev's strength. Look how helpless Dadi felt when Dev opposed her. So, right now Dev will be upset and won't know what to do until he gets to the bottom of this. All the above four people will be helpless as they don't anything. So, Dev will fight alone with all the evil forces and Radhika would be his only helper. Like Abhimanyu, he is also attacked from all sides at once. Since Abhimanyu had nobody on his side, he died after being attacked simulataneouly. But, here Dev has Radhika's support who knows the truth about the two wicked witches.
As long as Dev's and Radhika's characters are kept consistent and not dumbed down, I am ok with this track. In fact, this soap did need a strong villian who could challenge Dev. Vishaka, Amma and Mrin are not worthy opponents. They are better as side kicks. Also, I don't want to see Amma's character and hopefully they will remove her for good by sending her to jail after the end of this track.

Great observation by Avifan and excellent responses by everyone else! I started reading a very good English translation of the Mahabharat and I find it intruguing and wonderful! I grew up watching B.R. Chopra's epic Mahabharat serial and have the collector's edition dvds. I watched them through both of my pregnancies and post-partum recovery.
If the CVs attempt a Mahabharat-style track, all I can say is they better do it properly and they better show RaDev fighting as a united front rather than being torn apart by lies and deceit!

Yes you are right, Why. The shlok was more or less played to spook the audience by reminding them of Abhimanyu's fate due to treachery in the war. How Abhimanyu suffered because his father Arjun, who knew the exit strategy, was sent elsewhere to fight and could not be with his son. The rest of the Pandavs fought alongside with Abhimanyu but were helpless in the end in saving him. In the same manner, Dev and Radhika will be surrounded and the people who can help may not have all the answers.
But Kaanha will be on their side to help them be victorious!
Radhika has not been dumbed down yet as we saw her tackle Vishakha and Amma today. I won't believe the precap that was shown today until something substantial happens. Dev is wising up to Shaantanu so he will be cautious. My fear is jealousy or lack of trust that will get to him, if it does!
In the mythology, Shaantanu was a good man and father of Bhishma, I believe. I wonder if there is any connection!
Lets wait and see!

Dev's problem would be trust. I wonder if this would be played in two steps. First it would be the first wedding truth. I think Dev will trust Radhika until the first wedding truth comes out. If Radhika doesn't confide in him about it and it comes out without the presence of Devki and Shastriji, then Dev's trust in Radhika will definitely be shaken. He would question her love as he told her clearly before the pheras that he wanted her and nobody else. Later on after RP puja and all the incidents, he told her that too. Radhika pushed him constantly towards Vishaka saying that it is his duty to be with his "wife". Also, she tried to get him married to Vishaka and that would be the biggest betrayal in Dev's eyes that Radhika tried to trick him in getting married to Vishaka knowing fully well that he was Radhika's husband.
So, if this trust is broken, he may start questioning Radhika's truthfulness in other things. I think eventually Devki would have to disclose all the emotional and physical torture that Radhika had to endure from three of them. Only then he would understand.
So prior to the first wedding truth, they will show Dev and Radhika having a united front. Also, Shantanu is not brought here as an outright evil character. His name is significant, but then chacha's son is also named Arjun. But, they showed a soft expression on Shantanu's face when Dadi came over and he was reverent in touching her feet. So, I think his name has some meaning. Also, he may genuninely fall in love with Radhika rather than being obsessed with her in a stalkish way. But, again it depends all on the writers.
At this time, Amma/Vishaka combination needs to be exposed and I think they are going towards that. It may take couple of months for it to play out. We will know this week about duration of Devki's pilgrimage.
Even if Dev loses some of his trust in Radhika, his love won't diminish. Dev has always been portrayed as an extremely strong character who is decisive, has leadership skills, is fearless and fights back when it comes to Radhika. So, if they continue with his character as a strong one, then he will not let Radhika go even if there is some lack of trust. He tends to go to the bottom of the things when it concerns Radhika. Also, they are showing all these promises where he says that he won't let anybody come between them.

After understanding the meaning of the shlok and the connection to Abhimanyu's story I am getting really scared now. 😕 I do hope nothing happens to Dev and he emerges safe. I hope the creatives dont do anything stupid like killing him off , etc. All sorts of frightening ideas going through my mind now 😲 someone please help and give good thoughts also. Getting panicky for our fav couple.
