Actor Ranbir Kapoor jumped to ex-flame Deepika Padukone's rescue at a press conference held in Mumbai on Thursday when he was asked about rumours of a link up between the actress and liquor baron Vijay Mallya's son Siddharth.

"Deepika is a good girl who belongs to a respected family. She has always been forthright about herself so please don't link her to some guy or the other every now and then," he said.

Deepika and Siddharth were first spotted together at the Kingfisher calendar launch and have been inseparable at the Royal Challengers matches. Siddharth has even said that she is his lucky charm.

Since her break-up with Ranbir, Deepika has been linked with filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar and actor Shahid Kapoor.

Earlier, she has hinted at amicable relations with Ranbir. "We are just waiting for a good script." About her link ups, she has said, "I don't give importance to these rumours at all."

Its gonna release soon na I think. He didnt talk about her for months. And now suddenly 😆 I am not saying hes wrong but just Promotional activites u know? 😆 :P

he's not going to say she belongs to disrespected family either. She was his girlfriend in the past. He shared his best moments of his life with her, and they are still good friends.

@ ~angelz16~ I am sure he said it to fuel the speculation. I got confused because AA doesn't release until July!
He was asked to comment on Sid/Deepika and he gave a really elaborate answer about how the media should 'just let her be'.

i don't think he said to gain publicity, we shouldn't forget that he was in love with deepika or maybe he still is. He would never badmouth her, why should he? they both had a beautiful relationship. But frankly speaking, this is the first time ( or after a long time) i read ranbir saying something good about Deepika. But why is he bothered if she is being link malliya son?? I mean both were so happy, hands around each other waist and most importantly excitement for the team win. Is it bothering him, his ex is being link with someone else? or she is happy with someone else?

I really don't know why he felt the need to say all that. It made no sense to me either. He is basically asking the media to call him jealous. The thing is, he is very clearly saying that he is single in every interview he is giving, so I don't understand the point of this.

^Exactly. I mean if you really care and love her then be with her, if you guys haven't broken up then tell the media and your fans. Or maybe he likes to be in the news, or be part of deepika. I just think he's still in love with deepika and they haven't broken up. But Deepika being with malliya son tells she has moved on. This is really confusing. lol
