Fantastic singing by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan this round

👏

This is definitely one of his best. During the main sequences, he was perfect, singing it with great feel, and was great calm. Nice and soft, emotional, and right on sur. Was just perfect.

And then later, in the post-main sequences, his high pitches were exceptional. It was a pleasure to listen to them. They were very difficult, but he still did them very well. No one can sing like him, and he is without a doubt one of the best singers we have.

All throughout, this song had soft moments he did perfect, had great feel from his singing, and then even the high difficult portions were great.

Great performance!

One of his earlier songs for Bollywood and highly romantic one. Loved it from the very first i listened to it.

The slow subtlety of the start is so mesmerizing. The lower-notes are clean, high-notes are amazing as usual 😊 "Kab Se Hain Dil Main Mere.." lines have been sung beautifully.

There is innocence depicted in the singing showing that Rahat Saab perfectly grabbed the expression. The alaaps are fantastic as usual. A Job Well-done by Rahat Sir. 😊

Hmm... How difficult is this song, really? A song that has few 'impressive' vocal techniques relies largely on feel and expression to sound appealing.

Again, will not dare to comment of RFAK's sur or his high pitches. His range is awesome - no doubt about it.

But, to be completely honest, the song failed to touch me... At times the singing seemed too quiet and at other times, it seemed too shouty. Again, I am nobody to say RFAK sang badly. But let's just say I prefer the heir of one of Pakistan's greatest Qawwal families to stick to qawwalis. He's amazing in filmi songs, but my response to him is better in qawwalis - he has an 'x factor' in his singing in the latter genre, but that same 'x factor' seemed a little missing in the former style. I don't want to generalise all his filmi songs, because he moved me a lot in 'Naina Thag Lenge' and 'Bol Na Halke Halke'....

Anyway, I'll be as objective as possible in my scoring, which will be revealed soon...

-----

From Uditji's side, I shall play the shimerring duet 'Taal Se Taal Mila' from Taal. Music by A R Rahman, lyrics by the great Anand Bakshi. Even the song is predominantly sung (brilliantly!) by Alkaji, I think Uditji's portions were praiseworthy too!

Ah my universal Champion of the Universe.
You are the greatest singer now that Uditji has retired.
Another singer I like is also Roop Kumar Rathod and Adnan Sami and Shael.
