How it began...

One Year ago on March 16th, 2009 we saw Laali making her entry on our TV screens. A 17 year old girl risking her life and plunging into the river to grab bananas, so that she can feed her siblings. It was a touching moment and right from that 1st episode, we knew this show will be the one to look out for.

And today after 1 year the show has enthralled audiences all over the world and also won applause's from critiques, giving it great reviews. Laali has become a household name, thanks to Agle Janam.


How it touched people's heart...

Agle Janam is a story about what poverty can make us humans do, and how one decision changes Laali's life forever.
In this case, poverty forces poor parents to sell their daughter in order for their rest of kids to live through.

It was the first show to portray this issue on Indian Television. It brought awareness to the public through many different campaigns which were associated with it, to save girls like Laali.

And cases like Laali are very common in many parts of India, the poverty is soo extreme that many parents do take such extreme steps. Whether these girls are turned into maids, factory workers, prostitution or anything else, it usually means the end of their freedom.

In this show too, they have shown how the rich take advantage of the poor and Laali was bought for meager 90,00 rupees so that the thakur and his family can give her to one of their business partner for his pleasure in return for a contract.

But our Laali was one of the lucky one's and she was saved from this, but that didn't mean she was free, the thakur who had no waaris, gave her the job for producing a waaris. Laali had no choice but to oblige or otherwise face the consequences.

Loha's younger son., Shekahr who though married didn't have any kids, and was given the job to produce a waaris with Laali. Now Laali had this uphill task of throwing away her emotions and surrender to a married man and sleeping with him, a situation that no women wants to be in. But Laali had to be in, becuase she was SOLD!

But Shekhar was like a messiah, he couldn't commit the crime of sleeping with another women and Laali was saved. Though with continued pressure from Loha, Laali had to make space for herself in Shekahr's heart which she eventually did.
And then the title of the show held true to it's meaning and Shekhar decided to marry Laali, before he produces a waaris with her. Laali's life was a bliss, she can whole heartedly say now "Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo". Though few obstacles came in afterwards but Laali overcame those with Shekahr's love which has always been by her side. So all izz well until now, but can't say that about Monday's episode😆.

Agle Janam's Accomplishments

Now Agle Janam has achieved a lot more in the past year other than just us and trp's😆. It has been in the forefront of almost every award ceremony. So here are some of them:

• It got a record 14 Nominations in the ITA Awards

• Won 4 Awards at the ITA including the best show and Best Actress for Ratan Rajput. Also Best Negative Role for Sudesh Berry (Loha) and Best Supporting Actor for Aditya Lakhia (Laali's dad)
  

• In the Telly Awards, Ratan repeated her success and bagged the Best Actress Awards.

• And at the recently held Zee Rishtey Awards, the Agle Janam team won a total of 6 awards and here too Ratan was awarded the best female face of the year😃.

So star of the year definitely has been Ratan! We hope that she continues her success like this and keep enthralling her fans.



The Agle Janam Forum

Ok so we have talked about the show, but in the past one year we have had a lot happening in our forum too😉.

I still remember my first day on the forum, I had written my first ever update for a fiction show. It took forever to do one😆, mainly becuase the dialect was soo different and I had to keep rewinding the video to listen to it again and again, and nor did I know any tricks for writing updates, it was horrible😆. But now thanks to Agle Janam I love writing updates, I can actually do them live and have done one for almost every Zee show😆

Then we had many new members join who became part of the forum and made it lively. We got a Jannat, we had awards, contests, everything. It's been a good year😃.

So guys I wish we keep the energy going into the 2nd year as well😉. Keep Participating!!!
