The end is almost here. Most likely this forum will be closed soon. But while we are still here, I would like express a sentiment that I shared with redapple during this show.
Inspite of being huge fans of Shankarji's music (especially redapple), we chose to support the strikers, not mainly because of Shaan but because this competition is about a team. There was a reason that the members of the Shaan strikers Anwesha, Debo, Harshit and Shadaab appealed to us more. As parents of growing children in a country which is not our own we face many challenges. We try to instill good values in our children and keep them connected to the Indian culture and at the same time want them to love our music.
When I saw and heard "improvised??" songs like "Jaan-e jaa dhundta hu yahan" by Neeti-Rahul, I thought to myself "Gosh I hope that my kids don't turn out to be like that!". In contrast when I next heard the pure and heavenly "Naam gum jaayega" by Anwesha and Debo, I could proudly show it to my kids.
The only bit of regret that I had from the strikers were the outbursts from Shaan even though I felt that they were justified. It would have been better if he had controlled himself like he did in the pre-finals. His few words to Javed Akhtar spoke volumes and the realization of the injustice made to the strikers came out clearer. If he had again lost his temper, the channel would have again publicized it in the news channels and kept replaying it and down-played the WRONG done by Javedji.
The finals is going to be aired here tomorrow. But I'm not going to turn my channel to Star Plus this weekend as I don't want my kids to see that the arrogance and attitude of Rahul, Sharib and Neeti that I don't want them to have, has won over the humility, innocence and simplicity of Anwesha, Debo and Harshit, that I want my children to adopt.
