Ready for a face-off?
With face transplants now possible, even celebs seem to have a wish list!
Barely two months ago, 38-year-old French woman Isabelle Dinoire was announced as the world's first face transplant recipient. For the record, the pioneering operation was done out of compulsion and not choice — she had been disfigured by her own dog.
The operation left many around the world wondering if they could have a new face. But while a nip here and a tuck there is ok, considering the whole face is not something many of us can think of. Or is it, really?
"I would like to have the best from everybody — Angelina Jolie's lips, my own eyes, Lara Datta's nose, Malaika's cheek bones and Dimple Kapadia's hair," says model Aditi Gowitrikar. Most of the stars questioned named Hollywood stars as possible face-off propositions — while actor Udita Goswami said she would like to have Angelina Jolie's face, Malaika Arora Khan expressed a desire for Michelle Pfiffer's face.
Only TV star Mona Singh came up with an Indian name — the legendary Madhubala. Ramp scorcher Milind Soman played safe and predictable: "I am very happy with my own face and would not ever think of a face transplant". On the other hand Tushar Kapoor also said that he loved his own face the most, but reasoned that getting a face transplant would "erode" his self-esteem.
Actor and TV host Shekhar Suman's take on the issue stood out: "My face doesn't matter to me, my heart does; because my heart reflects my true inner self and that gets reflected on the face."
