Firstly I would like to mention that the American Waltz was very badly executed and choreographed. The basic footwork was wrong, which was hardly done in the whole performance. Vandana was light and she lifted her own self. Posture was wrong for both Jack and Vandana. On a competition level Waltz is done with the pelvic connected, the elegance was missing from Jack's side. But I guess it works for the Indian Rural audience.

Saturdays performances:

Tashu was a big disappointment. Her lower body was not strong enough. If she was trying to merge ballet with the Indian then it was a lousy attempt.

Thank God Kruti did Bharatnatyam and she was outstanding. She was the best today. She deserved all the praise and the Lux performance of the day.

Shakti was awesome as always. May be now you should do other styles too. Jazz, funk, contemporary are your strengths and we know that.

Punit did a great job, except that his knees were not locked, leg muscles were not pulled up and the opposition in the body was missing when he went up with the cloth. Legs can't just be left loose and dangling. I am glad that finally you danced today.

The new girl in Geeta's team also did a great job, very passionate and competitive... Geeta has very strong performers in her team.

Todays show was fun and worth watching.

Choreographers, if your trying a classical ballroom style then make sure you do justice to it.

Welcome back Mr. JC....Hopefully You are MR. 😃 just going by your ID....Thanks for your views....I totally agree with you on Waltz....
Kruthi and Amrita were superb mindblowing....10+++++
Shakti was good but nothing new...I am losing interest...Want something else...Same with Amar...Sorry folks I have to be honest here...We don't want Prince De javu all over again 😳
TL I understand you love Shakti and Kunwar-Amar but Kruthi is as talented if not more 👏 Give her proper dues to help her shine too....
May be TL should have Kruthi dance different form of Indian classical dance and than she can shine too.....Kruthi and Amrita would be very good competition for Shakti IMHO....
Binny's posture was not good at all...She needed her upper half to be more open instead of slouching...Her moves were not sharp because of it...Khul ke nahi naachi....although pretty face...😃
Dharmesh was good...today I enjoyed his act..
Rest were alright nothing special to write home about...I so wish Parvez was there instead of Jack đŸ„± Hope I covered most...

Welcome Mr JC. I'll go by the mister too. 😆

I do agree with the Waltz bit, Terence shouldn't have named it American Waltz because it wasn't as such. I checked out some videos on youtube to verify it later on. But then, the song too was Indian, so I guess he had to bring an Indian feel to it. At the end, it is Dance INDIA Dance! 😆

I agree, Geeta has very strong contestants, and she's giving them great choreography for the time being. I loved what Amrita and Kishore showed today! Dharmesh, I wished she worked more a bit upon him, he is a great dancer, but now I want to see a superb performer! 😛

And about being biased or not, don't worry, on this forum, most of us try to be as unbiased as possible. If you present points in the way you just did, without trying to force it onto others like some do, you'll make great friends! 😉

hi thanks guys...
I just follow the art of dance... With whatever knowledge I have as a dancer and choreographer, I put it forward so that those who don't know whats going on on DID should be informed... Most of the Indian Choreographers claim to know all the styles and try to put it on TV. But most of them learn these styles from youtube... Its great that by watching youtube you can learn the basics of a dance form but you can't put that up on a national channel, which people also watch abroad. Especially when its a competition. They fail to understand that you can't fool all the people all the time...

I am glad that some of you agreed that the American Waltz shown on DID was no where close to Waltz let alone be American. It was a very Bollywood dance with lifts.

Some of the dancers on DID are very passionate and its seen on the screen. But it just upsets me to see lack of technique and less of dancing on the show.

Please can we not have any more dynamic props and stunts and jumping around on the show.

I am agree with you and what you had said for Geeta is right, if she work on him little more than it will be simply best for both of them.

Thanks

HIi there JC,
Glad to see some real knowledgeable comments about dance......I just really dont get why they have to use props all the time...I mean Binny's bollywood no was so good... geeta just screwed it up with the whole diya thing on her head...ibinny was so tensed once she put it on her head that I was disappointed.

Thanks!

True! Too many props just takes away the real joy of dancing. holding a huge object and trying to balance it is not a good idea... it looks more like a circus... first the dancers should learn to balance their centre of gravity and then try to balance other things... If choreographers invest their time is training the dancers in technique then we will have better quality of performance on DID.
But unfortunately this week too you will see some more dancers hanging in the air or using props... One of them has done a good job in aerial act but still its not called dance. Watch out for today's episode and some arguments!!! LOL.

I am glad that DID junior will start in the summer vacation, so the kids will not miss their studies... Otherwise reality shows that involve kids is a bad idea as it just adds to their stress and their focus shifts completely. Give your opinion on this!
