Fame Gurukul captivated the hearts of millions on a roller-coaster ride of fierce competition, spectacular performances and stardom success. The show featured some of India's current singing sensations. The Fame Gurukul stars are popular among the Bangladeshi viewers as well. After the grand success of the reality show on Sony Entertainment Television, India's first Jodi No 1, Rooprekha Banerjee and Qazi Touqeer, along with Rex D'souza charmed the audience with their first public performance in Bangladesh in a live concert. In emulation of Fame Gurukul, three concerts, titled Rock Fame Jodi, were held in Chittagong and Dhaka. The first concert was organised at Chittagong's Dampara Police Line field on February 8. The second and the third concerts were held in Dhaka on February 9 at Uttara Armed Police Battalion Field and later at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. The last concert of Rock Fame Jodi comprised performances by Fame Gurukul stars and Bangladeshi pop singer Tishma and her troupe. Gurukul's favourite Rooprekha said prior to the performance, "I am really looking forward to this concert because now we have an opportunity to return all the love and blessings the audience has showered on us. I am really excited and wish to get more opportunities like these where I get a chance to perform live for my fans. I will aspire to improve as a singer and a performer in every show." Qazi Touqueer was extremely excited about his first concert in Bangladesh and exclaimed, "I am here on this pedestal only because of my fans and I hope I can live up to their expectations." Rooprekha set the stage afire with brilliant singing and mind-blowing performances. A special surprise appearance by Rooprekha was indeed a treat. She sang two famous Bangla numbers Priyo tumi dekhi go tomay and Naa.... mono lagee naa, which received hearty applause from the audience. She also dedicated some popular Hindi movie songs such as Jadu hain nasha, Chupke sey lag jaa galey, Ishq do....ishq do, along with other numbers. Rex, one of the finalists of Fame Gurukul, came next on stage. The soulful singer began with a Hindi popular melodious number, Kal Ho Na Ho which grabbed the attention of the audience. He then performed a mixture of energetic dance numbers as well as sentimental Hindi tracks. Rex has succeeded in topping popularity charts ever since his win in the Fame Gurukul.
The concert lasted for about three hours and drew a wide audience. Organised by Ontor Showbiz and sponsored by Uro Cola, the event was held to raise funds for Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust (BPWT).
