Right on @Sunbright! Since i'm trained in Bharthnatyam, i thoroughly enjoyed Kruti's performance. Like i said in my other post, even a person who has no clue about this dance form could have connected with this performance. The expressions, mudras and the execution was flawless.
Same with Tashu. poor girl didn't get the due recognition she deserved for her classical performance. And, i'm loving the fact that Remo and Terence, especially Remo, is so much supportive of classical art forms of India. love him for that.
Now, coming to geeta, the supposed "mentor with classical knowledge" has let me down so much. First of all, during mega auditions, she could not recognize Amrita's talent for her Orissa folk dance performance. She instead chooses Tina. What a questionable choice. Did anyone wonder? And Amrita outperformed Tina that day imo, even though she presented a very different genre of Indian art form. And what did Tina do that made Geeta choose her over Amrita? Some vulgar bollywood dance. Amrita's performance was a 100 times better than Tina's. And whom did Geeta end up picking? Tina.
I thought that was so lame of Geeta to have made that choice. I sometimes wonder if she really has any knowledge on any classical indian dance forms whatsoever. Till now, she hasn't come up with one pure Indian classical dance form presentation. i understand that none of the contestants under her are classical trained. But at least she can make an effort. The theyyam one was a disaster imho. Is that the closest she can come to when presenting a classical/folk based number? If she's not gonna come up with something shortly, she doesn't deserve to be called an "expert" in classical or whatever she calls herself.

Wonderfully said. The BharatNatyam piece was amazing. Thanks to Kruti for performing it so well and to DID for show casing one of our oldest classical dance form.
