Bee, it is not love. I have studied the concept of "love" in my masters program and often the love we see in Indian dramas and Bollywood films is known as passionate love. It is where there is no real intimacy with the other person, commitment, etc. The love is very frivolus, romantic and with it you will see intense emotions sometimes labeled as obsessive love, puppy love, even a crush. Abhi's behavior mirrors that of someone who has an intense longing to be with someone. If the love is unrequitted then there is emptiness, anxiety and despair. Passionate lovers love and want to be loved in return.
True love or companionate love has far less intense emotion and is combined with a feeling of deep attachment, commitment and intimacy. A couple who are in this type of love are able to engage in intimate communication, develop a mutual understanding and give each other emotional support.
Thus the relationship between Abhi and Simi is not a healthy one at all. Abhi really has an obsessive type of love for Simi whereas Simi's love is non-existent. Neither have reached a staget of companionate love for each other where they can understand each other. If Simi really understood what she was doing to Abhi, she wouldn't be so horrible to him.
Unfortunately, people like this type of love - the passionate kind.
