She was a role model and an ideal mother

Her love for her daughters was always paramount
Many hurdles in her life did this strong lady surmount.
Her relationship with her daughters was a pleasure to behold
We all wished all TV moms were like her, if truth be told
She was a regal lady with real style and class
She handled all her problems with real dignity,
there was never any shouting or any fracas
Her bearing and carriage was what really set her apart
Sujatha Sehgal projected such confidence and grace
I cannot imagine anyone else playing that part.
With her contemporary thinking we were really impressed
Many truths to protect her daughters, Ilaji had actually supressed.
From all that was evil her children she tried to shield
A beautiful tomorrow for them she always tried to build
Her clothes and jewellery were always elegance personified
She was dying she knew all along, but she kept it classified
Her strength and independence we all really admired
To see her daughters settled before she went was all she desired.
For this elegant lady however, fate had other ideas
A secret from long ago threatened to destroy her plans
An innocent was sacrificed as she tried to hide this terrible truth
A revenge saga this unleashed that turned everything to dust
When the truth came out her health began to deteriorate
The wounds kept piling on in spite of her weakened state.
Her three beautiful daughters are her greatest legacy
Damini is her image as we all can very well see
Every happiness from her in her last days, fate tried to steal
Even near death, relationships she tried to heal
After that press conference her decline was steep
She trusted in her son-in-law Prithvi,
this trust he will move heaven and earth to keep
Her death on the show leaves a void in our lives
That she had lived on is all my heart desires
Never have I shed tears for a TV character
But such was our attachment to her
But we all cried buckets when Ila Aunty died.
