Heyy everyone :)

As far as i know... this show is called Dance India Dance.. but are we actually seeing much of dance?
I am seeing more of circus acts than real dance. Dont get me wrong here, i absolutely LOVED Kunwar-Shakti's dance, and Binny's as well, but there wasnt much dance involved.
They are really great dancers and i know they can do ALOT, in yesterdays episode the only people that actually danced were Darmesh, and Nikkitasha.

Dont bash me for this please..

What say anyone agrees?

Those were forms of dance. People usually misinterpret that dance is only floor routine. Dance is rhythmic movement of the body to a beat set. As long as the rhythmic movements are included it is dance even if its on hoops, parallel bars, ropes or anything. It is only when there is no rhythmic movement and its all muscle strength and tricks - then its gymnastics or circus.

Absolutely agree with you...i dont understand why judges are depending too much on athletic lifts or circus acts...though these form a part of dance and look very appealing...shakti-kunwar dance was good as far as it wasn't not performed on ground...otherwise steps were really boring...and i liked darmesh performance in yestrday epi as there were no lifts no circus acts...rather we get to see more of dance with some really innovative steps...

where else I see that Shakti is being typecast as "the lift queen" or "air queen"...she is a strong contender and I wud lyk to see her 'dance' rather than flying in the air or being a dumbbell.

All that lifting, kalabaazi in air are form of dance. I enjoy watching them if that is done with perfection. Only one thing I do not like some contestant doing same thing(any form) again and again and going away with applause. Even Dharmesh sir is doing same steps, same thing in all of his performance, same goes for Shakti.

I too am getting bored with all these aerial dance and stunt dances ...

Thats the reason I preferred Binny, Dharmesh and Kishore 's trio salsa than the other dances and hence felt that GM was right in declaring that as the best one on Friday.

The way Tashu, an accomplished dancer, struggled with getting lifted tells me that lifts are definitely not easier for the girls either. I commend Shakti for working so hard with Kunwar to make their lifts smoother and appealing to eyes.

Yeah I kinda agree, I would prefer to see more dance on floor rather than in the air !! aerial act/dance is kinda boring to me.......... ( I know it involves great risk and difficulty but as a viewer I am bored to see those steps !! )

I like to see variations to the routine floor dances. Dharmesh has been doing the same kind of movements and even they are not fun to watch. The aerial acts/lifts act another dimension to dance and certainly fun to watch if done right. SOme of the best DID performances in DID-1 have been stunts; Mayuresh's ring act, Jai's Trampoline act, Salman's aerial act so on and so forth. That being said, I also enjoy classical dances (vrushali's acts from last year, Kruti's and Nikita;s dances this year) and would like to see those more than the routine hip hop, salsa, locking and popping.

Many Indians are ignorant when it comes to non-Indian dance forms, and the variety of Contemporary styles and the different ballroom dancing styles. But that ignorance should not be used as an excuse to criticize good dance numbers. If you watch dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance or the Broadway shows, or International Dance Festival and the like, you will understand the different dance forms and the difference between them. The Aerial dance aka Silk dance aka Ribbon dance is a type of dance, and should not be considered as the same style as Contemporary.

Salsa, Jazz, Jive, Hiphop, Lindyhop, Rumba, Samba, Flamenco, Tap, Waltz, Cha cha cha, Lambada, Tango, Bachata, etc etc are different types of dance forms, and some of them might have similar looking steps but wouldnt be the same in the entire dance. The difference would be in the way the body moves are made - the swinging, swaying, sliding, leaning, moving with the partner, etc etc. The circus moves are not as graceful as a dancer's moves, and often the circus people dont care about how their toes are pointed or how their hands and legs are stretched or held, but only focus on the technicality of the jump or the hanging or whatever...
