While VOI1 was in its first year, a new step taken by Gajji, SRGMP had already been an established since many years.
TRP of SRGMP was bound to be more than a new show on Star. This does in no way prove or establish that C-07 was bigger or better than VOI1.
Ishmeet, Harshit,Toshi,Abhaas n Abhilasha all proved to be better than SRGMP singers. The GF of VOI1 was better than SRGMP( my POV).
So, saying that SRGMP beat VOI1 is incorrect.
I do agree with you that we cannot compare a new show with an established one. However I don't agree taht the VOI 1 singers proved to be better than saregama 2007. I do feel that when a show is a big hit it is usally becaue there are different styles of singingon offer and a lot of variety. If you look at it that way BOTH saregama 2007 and Voi 1 had a lot to offer.
SAREGAMA 2007 - There were different styles of singing like sufi and qawwali style( raja and Musharrat), Sonu Nigam style singing and romantic song expert( Aneek), classical maestro( Amanat), powerful raw voice( Poonam) and sweet, husky voice( Sumedha). In short the top 6 had a lot of variety to offer, and they were all very good, polished, refined singers!
VOI 1 - I agree 5 singers were very good and had different styles - Harshit( he haad a good base voice, also was a big fan of Kishore kUmar school of singing), there was Abhilasha(very melodious, good at romantic numbers, great voice quality), Toshi(he was again into sufi singing and had a good classical base), Irfan(versatile all rounder), Abhas( very good at Mohammed Rfasi numbers.) Apart from there them was another girl Arshpreet whose voice and singing was very good, but she got out early. Then the winner Ishmeet though not trained, was a big fan of Shaan and had a good voice quality.
Both shows were big hits, but probably saregama was a bigger hit because it was established.
