Madhavan talks of life after 3 Idiots

R Madhavan is an unconventional hero.

Madhavan does the films he wants and has carved a niche for himself in the industry. He is also a family man. The Southern sensation spoke to us about fitness and his family.

Everyone in Bollywood is going crazy about six and eight pack abs and Madhavan doesn't have anything to flaunt. So what does he have to say about it? "I think it is important to be fit: emotionally, physically and mentally. You have to be strong and pack-abs do not define fitness," he says, adding on a cheeky note, "We have a saying in South that eight and ten pack abs are not important but what is below the abs that is important!"

About his diet, he says, "I am following a diet in which I have to drink tons of water. I have a hard time remembering that. These days I am having a hard time sticking to it because we are traveling continuously and partying and drinking our nights away (owing to the success of 3 Idiots)."

Madhavan has a four-year-old son, named Vedant. "He is young right now so he can travel with me. He is a really smart kid. We had gone to an aquarium in the US. There were dolphins over there. Vedant likes sharks so I thought I could fool him by calling the dolphins sharks. So I told him that and he gave me a very strange look and corrected me saying they were dolphins," he laughs.
