When a movie opens to bigger box office returns that the Dark freaking Knight, the producers are bound to take the film a notch higher. It turns out 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' will release in both conventional theaters and in IMAX worldwide on June 30, 2010.
And that means 'Eclipse' will hit theaters in India the same day too, considering its a super wide IMAX release. You must know that 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' was shot using regular cameras. IMAX corp are going to digitally re-master the footage with IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. So don't expect an 'Avatar' or 'The Dark Knight' like experience (those films were shot using IMAX cameras, and were made specifically for IMAX screens).
It is clever marketing from Summit Entertainment, as fans (and there are many) will have to pay more to watch 'Eclipse' in IMAX. We won't be surprised if the film makes 1.5 times more money than 'New Moon' during its opening weekend. Its actually a shame that none of the footage was shot with genuine IMAX cameras. However the final chapter 'Breaking Dawn' is still to be filmed, maybe they will shoot in IMAX 3D, and twi-hards will have a lot of fun what with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner performing two inches from your face.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is directed by David Slade. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Xavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jodelle Ferland, Jack Huston, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Burke and Kirsten Prout. Bryce Dallas Howard has replaced Rachel LeFevre as Victoria after the latter stated scheduling conflicts.
