Keep Rockin!

p.s. 2: Many of you got confused b/c of the way I posted the quote in the last part. My name is Kali and the person who said the quote was Monica. Sorry about that.😆

Now without much ado, here's my next OS cum SS. Hope you like it!

Soldier

She looked at the little devil enjoying himself on her comfy bed. He was trying to irritate her while she tried to stop him from doing so much masti.

"Stop it baby. Verna Mamma will be very mad." She said as she caught a hold on his tiny leg.

But the devil wouldn't budge. He loved annoying his Mommy. He loved it especially when she would pretend to be mad at him and then she would end up joining him. Thanks to the 'the look' that he knows to put on his face. He is able to convince his Mommy in a second.

It was already 7:30 in the morning and she still wasn't ready. Or rather, her boy wasn't cooperating with her today. For the last half an hour, she was trying to fix the bed. But this chuddy bear wasn't letting her do anything.

Today, he was in the mood to do some mischief. Every time she tried to get the hold on the blanket, he jumps on top of it, looks at her with his sparkling eyes, gives her a smile from which his two small teeth are visible, and claps his hands.

"Dekho beta. Mamma ko jaldi hai. Please no masti. You're Mamma's good boy naa." She said and she sat down on the bed next to him.

But it was as if he thought that Mommy was encouraging him to play. He pushed a pillow off the bed and threw his hand against the bed as if hitting it.

"Stop it! Mamma said naa stop it. Why are you making her feeling so angry? Mamma won't talk to you if you don't behave." She said in a serious and soft tone.

But when ever his Mommy had a serious look on her face, he knew that she was angry or sad. Unable to take his Mommy's sad look, the baby's eyes filled with tears and he let out a little cry.

Hearing the sound that she never ever wanted to hear, she turned her attention to her boy. His sorry sight broke her heart and she felt like hitting herself for getting angry at her little man.

His tears were pouring out uncontrollably and the sight of him broke her heart. She quickly bundled him u in her arms and held his head close to her heart.

Being close to his Mommy, he knew she wasn't angry anymore. His cry subsided and he held on tightly to Mommy's long hair.

"I'm sorry beta. Mamma loves you so much. Promise I won't do it again." Her baby's cry also brought tears into her eyes. She didn't know that unknowingly she would end up making him cry. But she was regretting her behavior. Afterall, he was only one year old. What else could she expect from him?

After the mother and son had their little reunion, she had a task ahead on getting herself as well as her son ready in 20 minutes.

And she did accomplish it. She got his shower done first. The hardest task was to get him out of the tub without having the entire bathroom soaked with bubbly water. Then came the easy part. Her baby was always ready to have on clothes. It amazed her on how much he loved to dress up.

After finishing his shower, she bundled him up in a soft, blue towel and placed him on the bed. She dried him up and applied the sweet scented baby powder. Then came his diaper, his tiny black shorts, and a miniature sized hoodie that she bought for him last week. Then was no point in combing his hair because it was naturally perfect the way it was. After placing a black tika behind his ear to keep all evil eyes away from him, she kissed his forehead.

When she looked into his eyes one more time, she could see the glimpse of the person she loved the most in this entire world. She loved him beyond belief. True that he wasn't with her today, but he left her with a gift that had the most of him in it. Their baby. Their Praneel.

:::::

"Shanta Tai!" She called after placing her charming prince in the crib to play.

After 2-3 minutes, a middle-aged lady rushed into her room. She looked at both the girl and the baby with a smile.

"Ji Heer Bitiya. Kuch kaam hai kya?" Asked an affectionate Shanta Tai.

"Tai mai nah ke atti hu. Aap please iss-" Before Heer could say anything further, Shanta Tai took over.

"Tu jaa. Mai isse sambhal ti hu." She promised her. Heer flashed her a smile and headed off to take her shower.

After completing her shower, Heer came out of her bathroom draped in a simple sari. The creamy pink and white combination made her skin shade off radiance. The border was adorned with small gemstones and even smaller beads. She headed towards her dresser and examined herself in the mirror.

As she looked at her plain attire and even plainer features on her face, she was able to justify her plainness.

Then her gaze fell on the large picture frame that hung on the wall in the middle of her room. The person in the picture was the one who had brought colors into her life, happiness into her life, and love into her life. She walked over, closer to the frame and stood in front of it. Seeing his smile brought a smile onto her face as well. The same eyes, the same nose, the same hair, and the same cuteness. He had left her with an exact replica of himself. A baby version of him was still with her and at no point in time would she survive in this world without her Praneel. She managed to survive without her love, her Prem. And now, the only key to her survival was her baby, his baby, or rather their baby.

She reached out to touch his picture in the frame. Even by touching his picture, she was able to re-feel his existence. Her fingers traced over his eyes, his nose, his lips, his cheeks and at last the garland that hung over his picture. Everything in the past rushed back to her. Especially the day she had gotten married to her Prem.

:: Flashback ::

Everything was going on perfect. The day started off with a pleasant start. When Heer woke up that morning, she was surprised to see her entire room filled with loads of flowers and bouquets. The smile on her face reflected that she knew who the culprit was. Only he could do the sweetest of all things for her.

And at that moment, she had the answer to his question. He had once asked her if she knew what she was doing. He had asked her if she would be happy marrying him. And to his question, she only had one answer. She would consider living with him in each and every condition. He was her life and he had to respect that.

:::::

It had been a tough task for her to convince her parents into agreeing for this marriage. But that was because she had tried doing this before having her parents meet him in person.

Balraj and Teji Mann were well respected Cardiac Surgeons in Mumbai. They had two intelligent children, Nihaal and Heer. Even though they were considered to be one of the richest families in India, they were down to earth individuals who considered everyone to be equal. Balraj Mann had always wanted the best for his children. He had allowed his older son Nihaal to get married to a respected middle-class family. Nihaal was happily married to Maya. And Balraj could swear that there was no other 'perfect bahu' then Maya for his family.

But the tension had come when Heer had put forth her will to marry Prem Juneja. Balraj would have been the happiest man on earth to know that her daughter had found her true love. But it broke him none the less to find out that the man his daughter was in love with was in the military. There was nothing that he had against Prem. But the idea that had him worried was his Heer's future. Being a military officer, Prem's life was always at stack. After their marriage, if anything happened to Prem, then his daughter's life would be ruined. The only fact that he feared was that Prem's profession would cause major problems in his daughter's life. How could he stack her life?

His question was soon answered by the man in doubt himself. It had been Balraj's 56th birthday and a party was organized by Nihaal and Maya. But since the day Balraj had shown some reluctance in her proposal to marry Prem, Heer's mood had been a little low in the shades. Nihaal and Maya were doing everything to cheers her up. And when it came to Maya, Heer tried to act as joyful and as relaxed as possible. She didn't want to do anything that would make her bhabhi feel depressed as worried. After all, she was 5 months pregnant and it was not healthy for her.

For Maya's sake, she was acting as if she was enjoying. But deep down, her worries were accelerating by the second. Balraj had asked for some time to think for his decision. Heer knew that her dad was just worried about her future. But what he didn't know was the fact that her Prem was the only person that her daughter could ever be happy with. Prem was a part of her and she didn't know what she would do if her father denied him.

When the party was over, she had gone straight to her room to ease out her eagerness to know her dad's decision. It had been around 12:00 at night when she had stopped her hour and hours of crying and dozed herself into sleep.

It was early next morning when she woke up earlier then ever. Seeing her clock flash a bright red 5:30, she headed for her bathroom to take a quick shower. It was rather early and she knew no one would be up. After finishing her shower, she got dressed into an orange colored, plain but comfortable salwar. After combing her hair straight she decided to look as simple as ever. She only liked dressing up for him. But even then it didn't matter because she knew that he loved the way she looked no matter what.

She headed downstairs with her books. After making herself a hot cup of coffee, she then headed towards the library in her room to read quietly. While she was in there, she heard the doorbell ring. By now, the servants were all up so she didn't have to hurry to open the door.

But after a couple of minutes, a voice caught her attention. Heer stopped reading her book and headed towards where the voices were coming from. After a little walk, she found herself to be standing in her dad's office room. And to her surprise, Prem was there as well. He looked sophisticated then usual in a dark brown colored shirt, blue jeans, and a light brown colored blazer. She peaked from the wall to find her father and Prem sitting on the sofa in the middle of the room.

At that moment, her heart was caught in her throat. What was going to happen now?

:::::

All night, Balraj couldn't sleep. The look on Heer's face haunted him every time he closed his eyes. It wasn't fair to not let her chose her own life partner. But he was worried about her future. And due to that, he had concluded that he needed to talk to Prem Juneja urgently. He had to know who was this guy and if he was capable enough to deserve his daughter's love.

After much mind debating, he found the courage to call Prem on the number Heer had given him once. The call was picked up by an elderly lady who informed him that she was the housekeeper. She also informed him that Prem was in the shower.

Finding no other way, Balraj left behind the message that he wanted to meet Prem as soon as possible.

And now, just 20 minutes later, here was the one and only Prem Juneja. Sitting right in front of him. The first look he had of him and Balraj knew that his daughter had made a perfect choice for herself.

"Namaste Uncle." Prem greeted Balraj with a polite smile and a soft hand shake.

"Namaste Beta. Come sit." Balraj and offered him in his office. When they both were settled, Balraj found himself short of words. He was shocked to know that Heer had found such a gem. His respect for elders, his tenderness, his politeness, his calmness, his disciplined behavior, and his gentle looks. Every single thing was impressive about Prem.

And another shock wave struck Balraj Mann when he heard him say the next few word.

"Aapko yehi chinta haina keh aggar shaadi ke baad mujhe kuch ho gaya toh Heer ka kya hoga?" Prem knew exactly what had been in the father's mind.

Balraj was once again speechless. But he let out a nod.

"Please Uncle. Don't worry. Aap sirf Heer se keh dijiye ke mai aapko pasand nahi aaya." He said with an obedient smile. He was able to judge the father's dilemma. And that's why he came here to help him some this dilemma for good.

Theregoes the first part. I know I kept you all hanging but the next part will cheer you up for sure. Now type me a good, long comment and make me happy. Will try my best to post as soon as possible. Thanks and take care!!!!
