Kalpana returns home, and Jyoti asks her whether she met Pankaj. Kalpana denies having met him, but Jyoti catches her as lying, and guesses that he told her not to bring this up again. Kalpana admits it and Jyoti recoils, saying that he'd never forgive her. She then starts crying, thinking that she's lost Pankaj for good. An equally sad Kalpana retires to her room.
Hours later, her servant comes to her and asks her where Jyoti is - she took her food for her, but she's not in her room, nor in the washroom. Was she supposed to go somewhere? Kalpana is shocked.
Somewhere in the city, on a bridge over a reservoir/lake, Jyoti is walking. As usual, Pankaj's parting shots are recoiling in her memory, and ending w/ what she extracted from Kalpana. She then gets to the railing and looks down the bridge. She tells herself that she can't bear the pain anymore, nor live w/o Pankaj, and now she's lost the last hope of getting him back. She tells god that even though she knows that suicide is sinful, she doesn't have the courage to face life anymore, so she asks forgiveness in advance for that sin, saying that she's giving up her life. Saying this, she starts climbing up the ledge, preparing to jump
Jyoti is about to climb, when 2 school-kids in uniform start calling out didi... asking her for help in crossing the road đđđ Jyoti turns to look, and tells them that the road is empty (so they shouldn't have any problems). One of the kids tell her that a car can come there anytime, while the other tells her that their mom told them not to cross alone. Jyoti gets down and helps them across. After crossing, one of the kids asks her why her eyes are red - was she crying? (Maybe she could have filled them in on her ropeless bungee jumping plans đđđ) The other kid thinks she has dust in her eyes, and asks her to kneel, and that she'd do some magic. She blows into Jyoti's eyes, asking her not to close them, and then tells her that all the dust will be removed. Jyoti finally smiles and thanks them. Just then, an auto arrives, and the kids take it and leave.
Jyoti now gets a different set of flashbacks, like she did the first time she was in this sort of a depression, and Bhargava telling her not to let her sadness be her undoing. Jyoti apparently has changed her mind.
Back at Kalpana's place, the entire Sharma family is there. Deepu is furious, and resolves to go to the Vashisth and demand how they could, after all that Jyoti did for them, trust a total stranger over her? Padma tells him that that will fall on deaf ears. Deepu refuses to sit there idle, and says that nobody knows where Jyoti is, and it won't make any difference to the Vashisths, but for the Sharmas? He swears that if anything happened to Jyoti, he'd kill Brij, and he wouldn't spare the Vashisths either. KK tells him that there is no reason to act so impulsively, and tells him that Jyoti wouldn't make a false move. She may be hurt, but she won't admit defeat in life.
At the Vashisth mansion, Longshree brings in the tea for Pankaj, but he tells her that he doesn't want anything, and knocks it to the floor, breaking it, and telling her to take it back. Longshree starts gathering the pieces, but CM dismisses her, so the broken teacup and the tea continue to lie there. She asks Pankaj why is he punishing himself for Jyoti's faults? She tells him that Jyoti was the one who lied and cheated him, not Pankaj. Pankaj tells her that he doesn't understand how all this happened - he feels like dying. CM is horrified to hear this and he tells her that the same Jyoti who he thought so highly of and respected - he's not so much angry @ Jyoti's betrayal, but his own idiocy. He teaches his students good & bad, right & wrong, and now it turns out that... CM comforts him, and tells him that it's useless to shed such tears for a cheat like Jyoti: she's not worthy of all that. She tells him that if there is a god, he'd sure make sure that justice catches up w/ Jyoti. But she begs him not to destroy himself in this manner. She tells him that Jyoti & her family will have to bear more pain than what she inflicted on him.
Just as Sushma suggests going to the police station and filing a report, Jyoti returns to Kalpana's place. She asks Padma & others not to ask her anything. She tells KK that she'd weather this storm as well, and KK tells her that he's proud of her. He tells her that ever since he was wheelchair bound, there were numerous occasions when he broke down, resigned himself and wanted it to end, but still he's alive today. The reason? Looking at Jyoti. She gives him the courage to face life difficulties. He tells her that when he sees her in such turmoil, he gets angry at the gods for inflicting such hardships on one as young as her. But he's proud of the courage that she displays when she confronts such difficulties. Jyoti smiles hearing this, and everyone else is happy to see her smile.
KK asks her to return w/ them, but Jyoti declines, saying that it's no longer her home. Sushma tells her that in that case, she doesn't have a right to live there either, in which case, why did Jyoti drag her back there? She tells her that if that home was now a stranger's one for Jyoti, it's one for Sushma as well, (since they both are married). Deepu tells her that for the first time, he's hurt hearing her words. After all, if it weren't for her, that roof over their heads wouldn't have existed. Padma asks her that if this was the case, why did Jyoti keep supporting them despite being married? Why did she support them at every turn, and suddenly today, they are strangers to her? Jyoti tries to explain that she didn't mean to hurt them, but Padma points out that she did call them strangers. Finally, Dadi asks her not to say anything more, but just come w/ them. Padma tells her to come to her own home, emphasizing the last term. Finally, they hug and the episode ends.
Note to mods: please don't make this post sticky until I update this section
I agreed partly w/ CM today - if Pankaj thinks he's made the right move in removing Jyoti, he should simply move on, and not brood over it, and hurt others in the process. Although I wonder whether CM & family would have rejoiced had Jyoti died - excepting Brij, no one could have felt anything but guilt.
Sushma made a good case to Jyoti that if her maakya was a stranger's house b'cos she was married, same is true for her. Padma, for all her faults, made a good point that if Jyoti thought that way, why did she persist in supporting them all these months?
Let's see what twists we see from here. I don't want to see Sudha too return. I'd like to see Brij come apart, and then both Jyoti & Sushma settle down. Plus I want some time spent on Suday's romance, and maybe Deepu's as well.
