Im new on the debate mansion, but not on IF 😆

Ok, so uniforms or no uniforms? is the question of debate I wanted to start.
I myself was born and brought up in the United States but I'm Indian by origin, and I go to a public school where uniforms are not mandatory and you can where whatever you want to, as long as they follow the school codes and aren't inappropriate and stuff of course, lol.
But in private schools, uniforms are mandatory and I was wondering what everyone's take on uniforms is; should students have to wear them or should you be allowed to wear what you'd like to.
I think that while no uniforms give you creative freedom, and let you choose, therefore letting you be independent and more free. Having uniforms makes everyone wear the same thing, and so no one stands out and people who can't afford as much as others dont get to fluant their more expensieve/stylish clothes.
But I think that shouldn't matter, and people shouldn't have to wear uniforms.
And I'd really like to know what you guys think, and what's your take on this?
Thanks,
Sabreena

I grew up in India where uniforms were mandatory. That makes everyone equal. No frills and no show offs. One kid need not feel inferior coz his parents did not make him wear expensive clothes, like few other kids.

I also feel that wearing uniforms makes the kids focus on other important things which are much more important while growing up, such as playing with your peers, crafts, arts etc.

If children wear casual clothes especially expensive ones, they wont feel as free to play on the school grounds. In this manner, they miss out on some of the fun days of school life. I remember playing for hours in school wearing uniforms. We werent bothered about spoiling our clothes or getting them dirty...😊

There is all the time in life to wear casual clothes...! Plus, it saves the parents so much money that they can utilize on other important stuff. Everyone needs variety in their wardrobe, kids are not different and would want to revamp their wardrobe so often as well!

I had uniform back in Elementary.
The parents loved it cause they only had to buy uniforms before the year started...and now when we got to middle school and high school they have to buy waaaaay more clothes.

I think uniforms help students focus more on school than what they look like. It creates equality and those who cant afford a lot of clothes have an easier time.

The good thing about no uniforms is that everyone can wear what they want, if its appropriate of course. Students have freedom to portray themselves as the individual they are :)

I really agree with that, but I think that people should think past that, because in the real world there will always be people richer than others, and with more expensive clothes and stuff, and so even if you are jealous or it brings you down, you shouldn't let that affect you. I think that if your used to that from school, because no one wore uniforms..it tends to make it easier for one who has less than someone else when their older!

But on days, where kids usually play and stuff..like field day and stuff, kids always wear extremely casual clothes and people always wash their clothes. And people dont wear like laways extremely formal and expensive clothes to school. It tends to vary.

Okay, I understand what you mean with the money thing. But kids have other clothes besides uniforms to wear anyway, plus dont kids usually get other clothes on their birthday and other occasions?

And thanks for replying! I really respect your opinion =)

I get what you mean, lolz.
I feel like most people I know, always want the opposite.
A lot of people in my school, love getting uniforms for like sports and clubs and stuff.
And I ahve a few friends in private school and they love the idea of not wearing a uniform, and getting to wear something nicee on their b'day at school and stuff.
I know this doesn't apply to like everyone, but I know a lot of people like that.

Outshine others in school with your intelligence , not with what you wear !
I think uniforms actually are important in school - log kuch bhi pehen ke aa jayenge toh you know thoda distraction to ho sakta hai. 😆
