Rajeshree Thakur
NISHTHA BHATNAGAR
Despite the notion that dusky beauty is the 'in' thing, the characters of daily TV soap operas have glowing fair complexions. The success of Saat Phere — Saloni Ka Safar, a serial about a dark complexioned protagonist, therefore, comes as a surprise, and Rajeshree Thakur (Saloni) can't stop smiling about it. ''It shows that Indian audiences are finally waking up to more real characters. The focus of the audience has undergone a major change and more meaningful serials are now being made,'' says Rajeshree.
She started her career with modelling for advertisement campaigns, Rajeshree's eyes were always set upon making her mark in movies. ''I always wanted to be a part of films. That is why I did an Indo-French film called Hawa Aane De. Television was never my cup of tea but now that it has happened, I am rather excited about my role with my dreams of making it big in Bollywood intact in my eyes,'' she adds.
Hailing from a simple Maharashtrian family, Rajeshree shoots for 13-14 hours a day for 29 days a month. ''Whenever I get any time, I spend it with my family. I am more of a home bird and not a party animal at all.'' On whether or not she relates to her character, she says, ''Well I am definitely a very simple girl but had I been in Saloni's place, I would have chosen my own life partner.''
