Although i certainly dont approve of how he behaved, and do think it was a bit irrational and also childish -- I also think that Abhi's behavior was completely a normal reaction. The fact is he loves Simmi, and for the first time, after acknowledging, he's seeing the reality of the situation, their age, society's pressures etc. His behavior was actually his way of asking her to deny the truth and say that -- no it doesnt matter -- I love you. Thats all he wanted, I think. Some reassurance that what they're feeling is JUST as valid as al the arguments supporting Nakul and her parents.... A case of hurting the people we love the most, because we dont know who else to strike out at... inexcusable, but human.
Yes, exactly!
soapaddict, you exactly put in here what I wanted to say too.
Agreed, Abhi said something very mean to Simi but he is just acting like any other person in that situation and circumstances would act.
No, he is not doing it on purpose to push Simi to Nakul.
But he is definitely doing it on purpose to get some comfort from Simi. He is just "fishing" for comfort/reassurance from her by pushing her through his mean words.
He felt, Simi is not giving him or their problem enough attention, he doesn't yet know that it is not Nakul that is Simi's problem but it is Neetu.
He is just feeling insecure as Laila has been saying in her various posts, he is feeling that he is a weaker person in comparison to Nakul.
I strongly feel, its too early to say that writers have messed up Abhi's character. Simi just blurted out Neetu's name in the park. Looks like Abhi might have understood that he did hurt Simi and Simi is thinking about Neetu and not Nakul (he might have put the 2 scenes together, [Simi and Neetu discussing something serious in her room] ) and might have wanted to apologise to Simi and those 18miss calls. Now he is here in her house, need to see what he has to say...
