In the US today several friends of mine had our regular KB night. We had the episode where Abhi professed his love to Simi...

Here are some of the comments:
What the #$#$??? Abhi was so smooth and he had to all together and now he looks such a pathetic loser in the way he says "I love you." He looks like a 12-year old kid!!

What the heck happened to Abhi, he looks nothing like the Abhi we saw earlier.
He was so manly and charming and now he looks like a retard.
What's with the teeshirt? (There was a lot of laughing at this point and that it looked like something a kid would wear).
Of course everyone was happy that Abhi had said that he loved Simi, although they all agreed it was very early in the relationship for them to say "I love you." Moreover, everyone agreed that Abhi's love for Simi has no basis. Also they really don't know each other; a day together, a few chance meetings and an over night conversation a relationship of marriage does not make.
Everyone agreed that Anita's personality had changed and was an inconsistent change. Her character was very stuck up and someone said that someone needs to give her a tappda.
Finally, the age drop was horrible. Everyone was grossed out. There is no way a 22 year old who is supposed to smooth, charming and altogether would go for a 30 year old frumpy woman unless she had a major makeover, did something charming, had some substance etc. It makes the storyline very weak. My sister goes, "Is she supposed to be his girlfriend or his babysitter now?"
Also we all agreed, 22 guys are more interested in hot looking women, hanging out with their friends, getting drunk and/or wasted and/or smoking weed and having sex, not chasing after frumpy 30 year old women. I have 22 year old cousins and they would not be caught dead in the clothes Abhi was wearing and neither of them would be interested in a 30 year old woman. By the way, one is 21 and is dating a 25 year old, but he said older than that and that's way too much.
We finally concluded, in order to make it feasible that a 22 year old guy would be interested in a 30 year old woman without doing anything to make it believable, the writers thought - make the guy immature, obssessive, ulta insecure and a goof ball when it comes to love. That way, when he chases after her, it would look real. No secure, confident, smooth, together guy would do that.
Now I can finally understand why Abhi has been changed. 😉

I live in Us so I have to see this episode on big screen !!
yeah the popeye T shirt !!
It was not like a Kid telling I love you but more like he wanted to say it and he just did that !! He spoke his heart mind out to her in which ever way he felt he wanted to do period !!!He tried telling the proper way near the temple but that was just too difficult for him at that time

If you read the comments (and there are several of us who watch the show together. Some of us in the group are sisters and we live within five mins of each other and so we walk/drive over and hang out for tea and desserts and watch the show. None of us ever watched Indian dramas before. I am the only one who keeps up with show online), the point is that Abhi has been presented as the maturer person in the relationship - the smooth, cool guy who had together. The one who was in a relationship. We really liked his character until this week. Had he been true to his character, this is how it would have gone...
Simi, I wanted to tell you something, I don't know how you will take this. You might be overjoyed, but at the same, you might never want to see me again. Since I've met you, I've seen something about you that I never paid attention before in any girl. You are warm and caring and have an innocence about you that I rarely see in girls even my age today. Every day, no every moment I spend with you is not enough, I want it to last forever, and I guess what I am trying to tell you is I think I've fallen in love with you...
And then he can say, I guess I don't know when and how it happened but it did.
Now is that too difficult a dialogue to write? Instead it was "I love you" and he had this shocked look on his face. Yuck. O so not the Abhi we liked.

Now at present I am watching the rerun and Yes he was sooo spontaneous in telling her that Actually I felt really sorry for him that he had prepared to tell her in a very beautiful manner not like Jab say tumhey dekha blah blah balh but somthing which he wanted to say and had developed over a period of time. Somehow he might have felt if I don;t say what i have to say now I cannot take another chance and that why he blurted it out !! It happens and at that time Abhi could'nt have been blamed..
I would have loved if he wud have asked her out once more and told her in a more beautiful way

So well said!!! Yes, they so needed that extra date. Whatever happened during that date would have added so much substance to their romance. Thank you for noticing the missing gap. It would also have added some much more depth to the story line and explain so many things that are missing.
The whole problem started with the incident in the park. The dialouge had some good points and some dreadful points and the end of the scene was dreadful.
Abhi made some excellent points and I liked his compliments of Simi. However, when Simi blurted out that point, it did make her look desperate (kind of went with her character in one respect), but it would have been better, if she had said,
Abhi, as my friend, these are things you have to say. Right? And then Abhi would have said, "yes" and at this point we would have a Simi who would not know if Abhi liked her or not...it would have been great if they went on a date after this - more like friends - and it looked like they were getting intimate. Then Abhi tells her that he wants to be friends. Simi should have said, "yes, we'll be as friends," because she doesn't want him to know that she likes him but does not want to loose the chance to see him again. She likes Abhi and she hopes that maybe one day he will like her.

Then Nakul (yep, we can use him) comes in the picture and it is Abhi who pushes the relationship. Simi can't stand Nukul. He's dull and boring - a nice guy - while Abhi is fun, independent, spontaenous and makes her laugh. The misery and conflict is that the very guy you want is pushing you into a relationship with a guy whom you loathe to spend the rest of life. Abhi will think he is doing her a favor. How is Simi supposed to get out of both this marriage and get the guy she loves to love her in return especially when he tells her that a friend told him that she looks like her brother's mother. T
he idea is that somewhere during the course, Abhi does realize that he loves her and he realizes her resistance in wanting to be with Nukul, but it is Simi who gets herself out of the mess this time - not Abhi - and it is this that impresses Abhi - Simi growing a spine and confronting him (Abhi) for the mess he gets her in.
When I, a spectator can come up with storylines, then so can the creative team. They can have all mine for free.

I liked your path to the better way of recognizing that the path of love which they are leaning to is in a more mature way .. And that Simi betting out of the mess good point..
Really the approach of how Abhi started having feelings for Simi is the main focus which I feel now really is lost with the present situation..
If they had got time to speak to one another and expressed their feelings it would feel good from the viewer point !

Abhi actually seemed much mature when he was trying to tell her about his feelings behind the temple and was taking his time.. He could have cooled down and later again siad it the the same manner and completeed what he actually wanted to tell Simi by asking her out

For real, you liked it or are you just trying to be nice?😉
It would have been sooo good if he had said in the same manner as he did behind the temple.

No really I wanted it that way !! 😛Actually today when I saw the episode being aired again though I saw the episode a couple of times online and was wondering why he was soo spontaneous !!!

He could have asked her out and Simi would'nt refuse and then told her that i wanted to tell you somthing and the reason why i felt the way i do. He could have made her feel special and she needs that and he makes her happy and gives a smile on her face so she deserves to know in a beautiful manner why he loves her and then say those beautiful words which she is longing to hear from someone who would keep her happy for new and forever !!

I must say the Temple episode where the shaadi takes place and Abhi and Simi in rocking was the best episode and I really don't want to come out of that dreamland.......but after all that was shown in the coming weeks must say it was like zor ka jhatka zor se lage........oh please give us back the old abhi-simi once again.....
agree Laila.........it never ever happens in real life that way.....always serials and films they keep showing a big shot guy falling for a poor girl or in this case a 22 yr old handsome guy falling for a fat 30 yr old woman and crazily in love with her........the thrill part is what appeals to us but they have to make it believable......not like this the 22 yr old acting like a 12 yr old smitten guy and the 30 yr old acting like a 70 yr old woman

hi dear..i dnt think whn abhi confessed his love he looked like a kid or something...he jst was to restless to tell simi tht he loves her...he cldnt take it anymore..ya one thing which is a mystery to me too is whn did abhi actually realise his love...maybe tht wasnt shown to us in detail as it is usually shown in other serials..the guy finally realsie his love in a grand manner..some music plays in the background..world starts looking beautiful to him and all..tht wasnt shown...so maybe thts why i was thinking whn did he actually fall in love..bt i think they showed it in a more matured way...in real life it happens exactly the wya it happened for abhi..maybe after simi asked abhi the question tht"pyaar to nahi karte na tum mujhse"..he must have finally accepted tht there is something between thm and he loves her..coz attraction and care was always there..right from the first meeting..and nt to forget on the ev of the marriage the terrace scene was magical..tht time too there was an affection..an attraction in abhi's eyes for simi..so we can see love was always there...bt he jst accepted it now...so he didnt need some grand full fledged a month long realisation and acceptance of his love...in ur real life..u have a frnd..u hang out with him...obviously u knw him very well..now tell me how much time does it take to realsie tht this is the one whom u love...love is nthing complicated tht we cant understand it..its bt natural tht one day u may feel tht all this caring ..affection which i have for this guy or girl is love..i can spend my life with him..so i think it was perfectly fine the way they showed abhi's realisation
moving on to the confession.abhi was going to confess in the wedding place..and u cld see he was fully prepared..and did say some beautful dialogues like we thought he wld and finally say i love u...bt in the end he cldnt..coz he had lots of things in mind like later on he confessed to guruji...
bt now he knew tht simi was angry ..she wldnt talk to him anymore...and he cldnt lose her...and this restlessness..this impatience..this fear of losing her was shown in tht phone call...he cldnt jst let simi go..and thts y he was so hassled..who said a guy who remains calm in some situations and helps simi out has to always act all matured and calm..everyone has their moment of weakness...and tht moment for abhi was his weakness...so he doesnt have to always act all macho..and btw guys r the most sensitive of the 2 genders..they jst portray tht they r strong..maybe physically they r..bt emotinally NO..they r like children...and here abhi being 22 obviously will have a childish streak in him..so i completely disagree with u tht he behaved like some pathetic loser...and i think US will be having the best examples of guys falling for some plain jane or even a fat looking girl...atleast i have heard of many...numerous..so there is nthing unsual abt abhi falling for a plain looking simi...he has nt yet fallen for her outer beauty..its abt her qualities..her nature..and thn will come the physical aspect...and 22 yr old guys do fall in love with older women..its very much possible and real...and believable...
and as u mentioned one of ur frnd who is 21 yrs old has fallen in love with a 25 yr old girl..so 4 yrs is ok for u..bt not 8??y???..thts like accepting wht is convenient for u and opposing everything else...

and finally abhi's tee-shirt..whts wrong in tht?????5 yr old??i think everyone has a child in them..even i like soft toys till now..so tht doesnt make me a five yr old girl..we have our own liking..jst bcoz he wore a tee-shirt (with popeye i suppose if i remember correctly) doesnt make him childish or even some loser..dnt judge the person by their clothes...and personally i didnt find it to be childish tht it wld make me laugh..it was quite normal..and cool for wearing at home..and relaxing....
