Katie's 'Smoking' Sex Scene Disappears
One minute, it was there. The next, it was gone. A steamy sex scene between Katie Holmes and Aaron Eckhart in the new film "Thank You For Smoking" has been mysteriously cut from the version currently being screened at the Sundance Film Festival, reports the New York Post. Katie, who plays an investigative reporter in the movie, has an on-screen romp with Eckahrt, who plays a tobacco lobbyist. And while the scene was still in the movie when it debuted last year at the Toronto Film fest, it has disappeared from the Sundance screenings. When "Smoking" director Jason Reitman was asked about the missing scene during a press conference at Sundance, he said that it had been lost in a "technical glitch," according to the Post. "We were about 30 minutes into our screening when I noticed a scene was missing," Reitman said. "I assure you it was a projectionist, not Tom Cruise." When asked the same question at another screening, Reitman reportedly joked "If you want to see a sex scene with Katie Holmes, rent 'The Gift.'" Holmes appears topless in the 2000 thriller. "Thank You For Smoking" is based on the best seller by Christopher Buckley. The film is scheduled for release in March.
