Was that his sister sitting next to his mother? She was the one holding an Amey Date poster with his photo from the piano rounds. I think it was, but not sure.

In his first introduction during auditions it was shown that he was the only child. She could be a relative like a cousin or something.
He did mention one of his cousins is on the death bed (ofcourse not the one in the studio!).
So, I don't think she was his sister nor his girlfriend (since he seemed pretty free when he was flirting with Jyotsna during the theatre round), but my guess is just a cousin.

No, Amey does have an older sister and she is also trained in classical music.

Ack!!!! Ye tu kya keh rahi hai??? See the thing is.....even if these guys win, it'll be an insult. ....they've been given so many gaalis by the judges that Indian Idol will lose all its appeal if these guys win....no one will have faith in the show anymore...so Sony can't afford to do that...it'll cost them big bucks!!
