Once upon a time women had little rights, and often in such cases they almost always lost.

In order to rectify their past failure to safeguard the rights of women, the government introduced legislations that dealt harshly with perpertrators of crimes against women. Especially in a marital setting.

But in their zeal to right the wrongs they have now shifted the balance of power in favour of the women in such a way that ultimately families, in-laws husbands have lost all standing.

Whilst the need to have such legislations and laws still exists, it has enabled the less scrupulous in society to use this law to create misunderstandings between family members for their own greed.

In-laws and husbands have been falsely accused of abusing their DIL's and wives and in some cases falsely imrisoned too.

Most of the time, the women don't even report a 'complaint'. It is enough to threaten to do so, and husbands and in-laws have no choice but to bend over backwards and accomodate their demands.

I have such a dilemma in my extended family. A wife who effectively taunts ans abuses her in-laws, but the husband is powerless to do anything as she makes hints and suggestions of what could happen if she reported them (lies about them! 😡)

Women like Goldie, and there are plenty of them in real life, do a great disservice to those who are genuinely abused and tortured.

This happened with my first cousin, he was blamed by his newly wed wife after she eloped with all the jewellery and clothes to her parents house. Her maternal uncle who was a lawyer got warrants against him and my cousin was picked up from his business office. He had no clue what was going on, the reason given was that he did not go after his wife to bring him home, he has been a mean husband to her and he should be put in jail to learn the lesson. The fact was that the bride of my cousin wanted a very falshy life style as she came from a family with very advanced thinking and would not mind being out late with acqaintances while her husband was busy in his business. My cousin had a conservative brought up. So instaed of communicating with her husband and molding im to alter his life style slowly while adjusting to his, she would call him that she is goingto a party and would not like to wait on him and would tease him that she will be dancing and drinking there having fun while he can be busy in uplifting his business.

So my cousin was opicked on friday and could not get bail as it was a weekend, so this happens in real wher women abuse the power of law to get their motives fulfilled.

At the same time I know that there are women whom really this law can protect, like Amrit's sister or others in real life and sadly they are not protecetd.
