Friends,

As you can tell from my handle, I'm not in India. In fact, I have always lived outside India. So my question is, does it seem like there are too many pujas going on in this show? I mean, in talking to my cousins and all in India, they don't seem to be as preoccupied with so many different festivals. Just wondering how common it is still there. My family's very westernized so I don't know if they are a good yardstick. It just seems ke har doosre teesre din koi na koi puja hoti rehti hai!!! I can understand Holi, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan but everyday, poor Akshara is being kept busy in puja preparations! How many times do we have to hear "Bahu, aaj _____ puja bhi hai. Ghar mein itne kaam hain...."!!!!!!!!!!

well...to begin with, india is known as the country of festivals............thanks to its secularism...........hence there are various festivals celebrated all over the country.............religious(diwali, holi, christmas, id, etc), national,(ind day, rep day, gandhi jayanti), harvest(pongal, baisakhi, etc), regional(ganesh chaturthi etc) and MANY MANY MANY more...............
in olden days (and in yrkkh) women were not supposed to step out of the house........only stay busy with household chores.........these festivals and pujas and rituals associated with them were supposed to be a source of entertainment (along with fulfilling religious sentiments) to help them keep busy.......this is what my grandmother used to tell me..........these are occasions when women from the neighbourhood also often joined together and celebrated certain festivals and poojas.............every 2nd or 3rd day......
of course tv serials tend be an exaggerated version of reality............
but although Rajan Shahi may not disclose this to us...........we know that yrkkh is a PERIOD SERIAL.............set in the early 1900s...............when performing elaborate poojas and rituals were the only source of entertainment for women...................😆 😆 😆 😆
