Is a big "no no" in my book. It's a breach of confidence and boundaries that her established between a teacher and his/her student. I don't know what the rules are in India, but at universities in the US, teacher-student liasions are frowned upon. It's not a good sign. It also makes Simi look rather pathetic that she's fallen for a student. After all, in earlier episodes, Abhi points out to her that he is young but not a student at Delhi university - I assumed he said this so she would not feel uncomfortable going out with him.
Teachers are in a position of power compared to a student and for the writers to take that step is somewhat discomforting to me. The good thing is it's a story that SImi has made up, but still, the only guy she could make up was a student in her class???😕

laila simi is not attracted to her student. abhi is not her student. abhi goes to school elsewhere. yes i have seen marraiges between teachers and students.one of my best friends married her professor and they are the happiest couple i know.
she was kind of in somewhat simillar situation as simi . with her married to some one else and left her huby in a month as he was abusive, but she never got a divorce and fell in love with her professor who helped her get divorce convinced her parents for their marraige and married her. He is the kindest loveilest person i know. . also i have seen at least half a dozen MARRAIGES between student and teacher.
it is better to have legal relationship then hanky panky extra marital affairs.
well this does not apply to abhi and simi any ways.

ramas I have to say that you are absolutely correct. Simi keeps saying that he is her student but we all know that this is only to cover her tracks and possibly not to ever hurt Abhi in anyway. Simi has really got nothing to do with Abhi as far as being in a classroom situation. I suppose saying he is her student is the only way she relates to him being younger than her. Lets wait and see how she actually handles the situation as she now is aware that he has a place in her heart.

Ramas, I am aware Abhi is not her student and that she is not attracted to one of her students, but the fact this was the only story the creatives could come up with for SImi to explain to Mili what was going on was rather poor. Couldn't she have just said, she met some guy who is younger than her without him being her student?
Whether it is through marriage or affairs, it is frowned upon especially when the person is your student. Perhaps later on after the student has moved on and is working but not while the person is a student. My boss married the chair of her Ph.D; not a big deal, but they were only two years in age difference and she was not the student when the met again and married.

GinaC, check out my post to Ramas, I think you missed the point of the post. I am fully aware that Abhi is not Simi's student and that she is trying to tell Milli she likes someone younger than her. However, to make up a story that she is involved with a student to explain that the person is younger than her makes it very inappropriate. Perhaps in India it's not a big deal for teacher and student liasions, but in the US its a big "no-no" teachers can be removed from universities if they are found in relationships with students.

Laila what you say is very true because even in Australia teacher and student is strictly forbidden. I guess when you speak of a younger man and an older woman it is I suppose a very touchy subject.
Please dont misunderstand I think it is very hard for a relationship to be accepted if the man is younger let alone being a student as such.

The student - teacher relationship is very different from an older woman and younger man. While one is taboo in on society, the other one is very accepted (think Aston Kutchner and Demi Moore). Regarding Abhi and Simi, just so no-one else gets confused:
a) I know Abhi is not Simi's student
b) Simi is not in love or attracted to a student
HOWEVER, to use it (the idea of feeling attracted to a student) as a way to explain love for a younger man is not an appropriate analogy - at least as I see it based upon my cultural upbringing.

They could have just dropped the conversation between the sisters. Why doesnt she have any friends?
I didnt like the reference to the student bit. They wanted to depict the age of the guy but still it was lame..
Agree totally with Laila2009,teacher - student relationship is just immoral.I dont think it should be encouraged either.
Older women , younger man relationships lasts beyond attraction if the guy is well matured and emotionally intelligent.
There was this much publicised story of 25 year old teacher and 13/14 year old boy in the US a few years back, the arrested the lady teacher i think...

LAILA has a Very Strong Point.... Yes, Simmi Could've told Milli that She likes a Boy who's Younger to her BUT Not her Student......... because we've seen the same type of affair in Astitva,Ek oremkahani but if it's a Student-Teacher relationship(As milli Presumes it to be) then that's not right for a Morally Good teacher like Simmi!!
