The songs that have been given to the contestants is on the basis of what songs will suit their voice.There is a different Music Director and Video Music Director.
Initially these album songs were not a theme for the Gala.Now Sony is doing this to promote their album.
True some of the contestants have got a raw deal and some are just lucky as Neha the song she picked too is a dance number but I think Sonu wanted to see some variation in her and that's why he must have commented.
I think Sony should have not included the songs from the album as a gala round instead they should have made them all sing the songs to promote the album.
This is just a gimmick by Sony to promote the album which will definitely backfire on some contestant.😡
