Ratan Rajput aka Laali plays the role of a docile girl in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, but she isn't submissive by nature in real life! When it comes to life on the street, Ratan says she is very gutsy.

For a lass who doesn't cringe in fear when attacked by goons nor minds scaling the walls of Kamani Auditorium to watch her fave plays, we definitely agree! Ratan, during her three-year-long stay in Delhi, has lived her life to the fullest. "Dilli is one phase of my life which I will never forget," she says.

When asked what was that encounter with the goons all about, she replies, "This happened in Saket. I was busy speaking to my mother over the phone when suddenly two guys attacked me. They wanted to snatch my cell phone. Even though I cried for help and tried my best to push them away, nobody intervened or came to my rescue. Finally, it was only when two strangers came to my rescue that the situation came under control." Like any college student, Ratan also survived on a shoe-string budget while she was here.

"My sister and I were totally dependent on my parents' money. I would get down at UPSC bus stop and walk my way to National School of Drama to save a few bucks. And then I went and spent Rs 500, dakhshina that I got from my theatre guru, on a green cotton saree that I purchased from Nalli. It is still very dear to me," she laughs. Ratan also very fondly recalls the time when she scaled the wall of Kamani Auditorium to watch Anupam Kher's performance there. "Haan humne deewar kood ke Anupamji ka play dekha hai. In fact, I have done something similar to watch Palash Sen and Birju Maharaj's performance as well. But I have done it all alone. In retrospect, it would have been safer had I been in a gang and not alone."
