'Honestly, I feel I am just an average actor'
Your role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is very different from the character you play in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. Does comedy come to you naturally?
I don't feel I'm doing comedy in Sarabhai... I'm just mouthing the lines given to me by my director Deven and writer, Aatish. People think I'm doing a great job, but honestly I feel I'm an average actor.
Was it difficult to play a negative character like Simran in Sanjeevani?
It was very difficult. There was a lot of negative traits in the character and I could not associate myself with it. My father told me that I would not get any marriage proposals if I played the character of Simran for long. But thankfully after Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, I've been able to break that image...
Your role in Kahani... keeps appearing on and off. Are you scared that it may get lost among the other characters?
I feel it is the role that matters at the end of the day. My character in Kahani is welldefined and well-etched. I'm not there to do just breakfast scenes. I play Parvati's daughter which is an important character. If you are sincere enough to your work, you are bound to get noticed.
Since your dad is a filmmaker, are you planning to venture into films sometime in the future?
My first film was a Bengali flick, Bolidan with Tapas Pal. But no one ever approached me to work in another Bengali film. It's really sad. I haven't made any future plans. But I'm game to work in films, especially Bengali.
