Hindi Cinema is getting worse day by day. I'm still waiting for that one recent film which can make me stand up and applaud.

The languages thing is really interesting since I have this obsession with learning more about linguistics. I know someone else who is Bengali who said she learnt Hindi through films but still has problems with gender in Hindi.

I have a Kashmiri father and a Maharashtrian mother and I still don't know either Kashmiri or Marathi. Part of the reason is that my father's family migrated from Kashmir to the plains ages ago, and my mother too didn't grow up in Maharashtra. So both of them are more comfortable with Hindi. My father doesn't even know Kashmiri - just a few words here and there. And in school I studied French, though sometimes I wish I could have taken up a different Indian language.I have watched a few Marathi films but not enough to learn the language and I kind of feel its too late.

Anyway what did I learn from bollywood ... I don't really know. Sorry about going off topic but the language discussion was very interesting.

I've learnt nothing pretty much. I've known Hindi since forever but if there was one thing, maybe dancing lol.

Sorry can't really think of anything.

When I was a kid after watching Bollywood movie I believed that to have a baby people just have to get married, share a kiss & there should be some bird noises & flowers. Later realised that doesnot happen.

What did I learn from Bollywood?

Hmm....here is my answer....
I have learnt how the Bollywood moviemakers think that the audience is stupid, not intelligent & dumb. Some of the movies I see lately make me wonder what the director/scriptwriter was thinking...
GIve you an example of what I mean....
In the movie Kambakht Ishq, when Kareena is trying to seduce Akshay during the Bebo song & she gets all drunk & wakes up in the morning she finds herself in bed naked & thinks that Akshay took advantage of her. I mean common, she was playing the role of a surgeon in the movie & being the "modern" girl she couldn't tell whether she had sex or not with a guy the previous night.
Obviously she was a virgin (since she hated men to the core& hadn't slept with a man) & one fine morning she wakes up & thinks that she been taken advantage of. WTF....Can you not tell if someone has slept with you or not? Can you not feel the change in your body? (and did I mention she was playing the character of a surgeon)..
That was so dumb. I know the whole movie was stupid (thank God I didn't watch it in the theatres) but when the moviemakers show all this it makes me wonder how stupid do they think we (the audience) are? In today's world, even a 10-12yr knows the basics of stuff like this.....I can understand if this stuff was shown in the old era (becuz people at that time were quite naive) but in today's era...common!...
Stuff like this is not even entertaining to me. It's like insulting my intelligence & makes me mad that we even watch this kind of stupid stuff shown to us. (My fault for watching the movie).
I just wanted to pen down my two cents & didn't mean to offend anyone.
Thanks for reading!
