Manav is not far behind!

It's a given that Archana is the meekest and timidest character. She has got no reason at all -- and believes every wrong person. It's been discussed here many a time. So I am not going to elaborate on that considering needless. But it's often forgotten or overlooked that Manav is not far behind her when it comes to being spineless and brainless.

A few instances:

1. Manav's rishta with Archana starts off with lies thanks to his aai. *He doesn't do anything to make Savita realise her mistake; ^still worse, he was going to get on with those lies if it wasn't for his kaka telling him off.

2. *During the jewellery drama Manav never reminds Savita firmly and decisively enough that it is no business of hers whether or not the jewellery are pure in the first place. *He only mumbles that Archana is 'bekasoor' because it is his idea to get the necklace himself. *He doesn't make her understand once and for all that it is downright gross of her to be prancing around wearing Archana's jewellery and a criminal act to try to squeeze more and more of them from her daughter-in-law. *^All he does instead is save aai from kaka's wrath! *^When the sick woman lands up in his in-laws' house for extortion and bad-mouthing, Manav cannot think of a better solution than putting into her hand the box of necklace as a pacifier, as if it were the last wish left in her life and she will be happy after this -- shying away from the real issue and thus adding fuel to the fire (in this case, to Savita's insatiable greed). He only says "main jaanta hoon ke aai galat hai, par main kuchh nahin kar sakta".

3.Then comes the Ajit chapter. He gets hold of the pimp, chances on the key evidence to put the stinker (Ajit) behind bars. Then he eavesdrops on the conversation between Ajit and Rasika to be 100% sure. What does our hero do next? ^^Manav decides that it is the most opportune moment to deliver some lectures! Ajit gets on the alert and turns the tables on him.

4. **And finally, when Archana leaves after the last big drama (Satyanarayan pooja), he vows to prove himself innocent only to brood, sulk and sob for the last one month.

I am not here to prove how much I hate Manav -- in fact I like him. I feel for him. His goodness easily outweighs all his weakness. I am just frustrated that now these wretched soap makers have started applying their rotten formula to the male leads as well!

The formula: aadarsh and mahaan = weak, meek and foolish.

*Manav is weak
^Manav is foolish

I dont' think Manav is weak, but yes, the creatives are turning his character into a weak one.
Where the jewellery and everything concerned with his aai stands, I think it was difficult for him to say something since then his aai would have warded him off with some excuse, (as always), she wouldn't have admitted it, worse still, would have blamed him for taking archana's side (it did happen, when he finally confronted his aai on the jewellery issue.) It is difficult to take the side of your wife in a new marriage as the mother is bound to feel insecure. So he tried to keep it neutral, helping archana but at the same time pacifying his aai. I feel it was quite a clever thing to have done. He came across as someone mature and nt merely brash and lovestruck. But when he felt things were going out of hand, he did confront his aai.
About the lecture at Ajit's place, yes, I agree it was not required, maybe they put it in cos the show needed some drama, and manav got to say some good lines..!
But yeah, what the current track is showing is completely ruining his character and his 'knight in shining armour' image that was projected since the very begining of the show. Even I am wondering why he isn't hunting about for proofs; maybe he hasn't found anything substantial as yet, but still I think they shud have shown it in the show. But again, his screentime is so less, and the show is going so slow, that I don't think he will get the proofs before climax.
Plus with Archana Madam behaving in such an obstinate manner, I wonder how he is going to show the proofs to her. Poor boy; I actually feel sorry for him- he works hard to support his family, is alone in his grief with no one to support him, savita and sulochana aai giving him big jhatkas everyday, archana avoiding him like the plague, everybody treating him with disrespect (vinod even asked archana at the temple if he was troubling her! He forgot he is her husband, not some loafer or mawali guy!) and finally manav struggling alone to find proofs of his innocence. I just hope the poor guy doesn't get a nervous breakdown soon...!!

Whenever he comes in front of Archana, he behaves as if he is guilty like he is not able to eye-in-eye with her.

Manav is really shown as a weak character. He can neither stand for his wife nor for himself.

bottom line is both Archana and Manav are pushed around by everybody..... they are dumb... they don't have their own opinion on anything.... they don't use their brain to analys any situations... they just always follow what others asked them to do or expect them to do....

you don't need to be very educated to use your common sense.....

You are right. Both Archana and Manav seem to have very low IQ. They are not sharp at all.

This is exactly where Manav has been quite weak and a little unjust too. The question is not how old the marriage is but who is in the wrong. And in this case, it's needless to say who was wrong. And if one had to raise the point of new marriage Manav's stand would be more difficult to be justified. A man should stand by his newly married wife even more (if she is not wrong herself), because she is uprooted from everything she grew up with.

He just can't sit on fence to be NEUTRAL, where one is clearly the aggressor and the other is the victim. It was a one-sided harassment and persecution and not a regular saas-bahu quarrel. So, he wasn't being neutral when he tried to be equally nice to both of them.
