Awww I am so sorry for you but you are right Sikhs culturally tend to follow a lot of the hindu festivals which they shouldn't, I am not saying that it's bad to celebrate other festivals but why starve yourself for your hubby? Sikhism clearly says men and women are equal so why should a women fast for hubby? Even in my family some of my aunts and SIL's fast

During my research this is what I found in the granth sahib which really made me grab my food😆

"Chode ann jo kare pakhand, na suhagan na oh rund"

"One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy. She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow"

When I told my aunt of this she had no answer and replied that my SIL will not fast next year. 😃
